We are going to lose 2/3 of our recruits on Offense if this happens.

We're going to be shut out by Alabama three years in a row, no SEC team has done that, LSU's about to.

Revisit the extension idea after next season
Agreed. I think his current contract runs through 2021. That should be enough to reassure prospective recruits in the upcoming class.

No one is advocating for an excessive buyout.
How do you know Alleva won't? He's done it before with CLM when there was little chance another program would come calling for his services. And the Coach O fans will be totally okay with it.
At any rate, people who are advocating an extension to O's contract at this point are stupid. He's locked in through 2021. Wait until after the season to see what LSU's final record is before even considering an extension.

We weren’t shut out last season.

Saban temporarily changed that image and Les maintained it, albeit, his stranger than fiction ways, recruiting was maintained and image was at least not where it is today. People are laughing.
All of the SEC teams are laughing at LSU, they're not getting shut out by Alabama three years in a row. This is beyond embarrassing, it's humiliating.

LSU's not scoring against Alabama next year, not with this crew! Bet whatever you want!

Personally, I think this whole thing is about Orgeron's salary. I believe he's pushing for a small extension and to re-work the salary.
First, I like to see LSU win out this season including in a bowl game, and assurances there will be changes if there's no improvement on offense. Huge bonus but no major buyout.

That will be two years in a row, not three. We’re not working with big numbers here, guy.

Send your complaints to BOS Supervisors Chair and Athletic Committee Chair. Sending to F. King is a waste of time. BTW F King just got an extension... More and more Board is composed of John Bel's peeps... O makes him Gumbo and lets him practice with the team. The Huey Long days are real

Billboards seem the most appropriate way to get LSU Ad’s attention.

Mo Jeaux, the next two years of Orgeron’s contract, this LSU offense is not scoring against Alabama. Wonder how much humiliation fans will endure before billboards go up?

I am fine with an extension for appearance purposes, as long as it does not significantly increase the buyout and it is contingent on replacing E with a candidate approved by Aranda.

I'm talking about the people in this thread. Again, I've already said Alleva may give him something ridiculous. If that happens I'll get angry then, but not before.
You people really need to read full posts before responding.

You and the Longhorn fan getting butthurt because neither of you are bothering to comprehend what's being posted before flying off at the handle isn't my problem.
I'll lay out what I've said one last time:
- Orgeron only deserves consideration for an extension if LSU wins 11 games.
- The extension should be 1 season.
- If there is a raise, it should be minimal.
- The buyout shouldn't increase much, if any at all.
- Alleva may give a ridiculous extension this time, just like Miles in 2014.
- If Alleva does so I'll get angry then.
- I'm not losing my shite if a one year extension is given after an 11 win season. This is pretty much standard in CFB these days.
Now that you've got this, you can stop throwing out hypotheticals that I've already given an answer to.

I'm not against an extension for recruiting purposes but there needs to be either no buyout or at least a minimal one
I think at this point, no raise (unless 11 wins, which implies a NY6, maybe, and a decent bowl win, then I can see a little bump) - but you have to have a buyout, otherwise, the term is only on paper and they can recruit against you on that.
The buyout doesn't have to be 100% of the contract term - it can and should be less unless you want to lock the coach in forever.
Part of the problem with Jimbo's (Sexton) proposed contract was that so much of it was guaranteed - aTm was willing to incur that risk, we weren't. I don't know how much guaranteed money is in O's contract, but I would give him a 1-year extension and keep the guaranteed money the same as it was last year (straight rolling 1-year on the buyout, essentially, even if he gets a little raise for 11 wins).
I mean, 10 or 11 wins is definitely in the right direction. And we will likely be looking at (again) a new offense next year, unless things change drastically through the rest of this season.

How do you know LSU fans will be looking at a different LSU offense next year? It’s not the LSU Olines fault that it got trampled like cattle running over grass, it’s mainly the fault of LSU staff who either didn’t develop or didn’t recruit the best players.

I don't know - I said "likely". I'm basing that on anemic performance in more than 1 game, a shutout (again) vs Bama.
When your passing performace is last or nearly so in the conference AND nation, and your running game isn't elite and you are a putative SEC contender, you make changes to try to improve 1 or both facets of your offense.
Unless you want to get fired. So, I'm basing that on 5 decades of watching football.
