We don’t care about resume, as long as he sounds like one of us

A&M will be 2-2 the month of Septemeber 2018

They play both Clemson and Bama that month.

This really makes me wonder why he didn't take the LSU job. Was A&M offering significantly more money than LSU was willing to pay last year?

Melt? Playing a good Miami team and at auburn could definitely be seen as losses

If we lose to both of them we will be in trouble. I bet we beat at least one.

I never did see the allure of Jimbo. He has about the same winning percentage as Miles, but Miles has had the better marquis teams. Miles' one natty was a dominating performance. Jimbo lucked out to beat a hohum Auburn team even though he had a superstar QB. AND Miles made it back to the dance with a truly impressive SEC Championship team.

To me, Jimbo is a known commodity, and is known to be no better than the guy we were replacing. Herman however, is an unknown commodity. I think he would have been worth a chance.

This one hurts, downvote away. It should embarrass Alleva.

I think it's a combination of things;

Yes, A&M came with a serious offer that made jumping a more attractive move. As I remember it, we didn't really go that much higher, and just got him a raise he would likely have gotten within a year or so.

Also, I think the fact that Jimbo flirted with us the past 2 seasons was in play. Florida St was getting tired of that, just like we were tired of Saban being on the market after every season when he was here. I think in both cases, the administration said "just go ahead and leave, we're not playing this game anymore".
