This is what gets overlooked. Once things blew up in 15, Jimbo was just as finished in Tallahassee as Miles was in BR. In both situations, the damage was irreversible imo. Miles knew he was a dead man walking, and Jimbo got caught in bed, so to speak, with another school. Both situations were absolutely irreparable at that point and clearly had an impact on both teams throughout the offseason and as the season played out. Both LSU and FSU can thank Clueless Joe for their current situations and I have a feeling Jimbo is going to have the LSU game circled every fricking year just like Saban always has.

That's the thing. How in the world does LSU beating A&M (again) justify keeping Les? It was the CFB analysts and commentators that turned up the heat on the admin and the outcry of the Miles' fans that ultimately created 2016 and the current HC situation.

I try to avoid bashing Les or O outside of actual specific game/program decisions, but there is an irony to the situation.

I suspect there are some outspoken posters on tRant that were wanting to keep Les for 2016 that now are ballistic about O being here. If the cord was cut in 2015 Jimbo likely is our HC. Jimbo was my pick from the beginning; although I never saw him as a HC savior type. More of an at least move the program forward without a slide, HC.

And then JBE thought it would look bad because of university budget issues.

Multiple times in the same thread people have fricked this up. Keep your political biases out of this shite. It was Bobby Jindal who was governor at the time and didn't want the deal to go through.

Please elaborate. I have no idea what it's supposed to be telling me.

It's pretty simple. Forget what he said about LSU, but what he said about what factored in to him choosing to go to A&M speaks the exact same thing.

The administration. Woodward. Those are what he mentioned specifically as to why he went to A&M.

which was alleva's biggest sin. the moment miles tried to bluff with the arkansas offer alleva should have dared him to walk.

No, his biggest sin (not counting Duke Lacrosse of course ) was not extending Miles after 2011 and our first undefeated SEC title since 1958.

Yes, 1/9 was awful but it didn’t erase the Miles’ second SEC title and NCG appearance in seven seasons.

It had been four years since his last extension at that point, and he deserved it. But as always, Clueless Joe let the fan and media hysteria over 1/9 guide his decision, and left Miles hanging.

So after 2012, another 10-3 (6-2) where all three losses were to top 10 teams and by a TOTAL of 13 points (all one score games) and a game where we appeared to get the best of Alabama, he had no choice but to extend him when Miles’ good friend at Arkansas inquired about his interest in moving on if LSU wasn’t going to offer him the stability he deserved.

So instead of having leverage in the negotiations after 2011 when no one else had approached him and even using the failure of 1/9 to keep the terms reasonable, he ended up having a competing offer and put us on the hook for more money and time than he could have gotten the year before.

Clueless Joe is an absolute joke when it comes to looking down the road and managing PR and this has been proven time and time again.

JBE had just been elected. I'm not sure what influence he had but I wouldn't be surprised if F King got him involved knowing he was going to take office soon. Jindal did come out in support of Miles so I'm sure he had a hand in it as well.

I meant F King, my bad. And I’m not even a republican so I promise that wasn’t political.

Alleva wouldn't pay A&M money for Jimbo. Now we have to coach and recruit against him in the division along with the greatest college coach in football history. Alleva is a moron

That's the price these days for a valuable coach on the free market. Don't be cheap and expect title contending results.

Speaks absolute volumes about our administration.

Precisely how much more would you be willing to pay for your season tickets to have gotten Jimbo?

How much more to park?

How much more for food and drink in T.S.?

How many more "They are pricing the average fan out of the market" threads would have appeared when the prices went up?

I'll hang up and listen as some of you think that the money just appears or even better someone else would pay he price.

We’ll probably have to pay the same for the next coach with potentially a worse resume

It didn't work out because Sexton asked for the moon and A&M gave it to him, LSU was not paying that salary when Sexton kept coming back for more and more to get a sitting head coach with a national title on his resume.

We will see if 10 years at that salary is sustainable not only for A&M but for college football as a whole.

The point is if any program is willing to pay that kind of money for a Head Coach, then your program better evolve and be willing to pay too. Or you will get left behind. That was the point Jimbo made today when asked about the ACC conference over the last few years in upping the salaries of the coaching staffs and being willing to compete with SEC in terms of $$

You don't know that. But that green grass though is always so greener.

Do you remember when he was here? Lot of people were glad to see him go. A lot of people at FL St were also glad.

You think Jimbo is really good. Nothing wrong with that. I didn't want him, and definitely no way in hell he was worth what he was paid
