i remember spencer catching a nice wheel route at vandy his freshman year and thinking "why don't we run that play more?"

eta:

He completed just three of his first 14 passes, then completed two in a row -- including a 23-yard pass to running back Spencer Ware on a nice wheel route that probably would've been a touchdown if he'd thrown it a little more inside

Yep, a wheel route. Sorry I couldn't remember the name for the pattern at the time. Don't get to be over 84. Of course the alternative is not good either.

Fournette made a nice over the shoulder catch on a wheel route last year. It wasn't a play ran often but it has been done.

We'll be fine if we run the play on 3rd down or with less that 2 minutes left in the game.

Yeah, can't believe he had the audacity to report what he saw at practice. Our offense is soo successful when the media doesn't reveal the plays to our opponents.

Kleinpeter is paid to do a job. His responsibility is to his readers, and not LSU. Every radio host/ commentator/guest says far more on a daily basis about what they are seeing at LSU practice, by the way.

i don't know the situation or the really all the facts.

But if it really is a big deal LSU can take away press credentials. So i imagine that owed hurt his responsibility to his readers.

But i doubt he it si that serious

Everyone know what's coming against LSU, just ask the AR coach....Its whether LSU can execute/block that will make them successful...

It's hilarious, isn't it? Grown men wanting a guy sanctioned because he did his job and reported that LSU ran a wheel route in practice. It's like 20% of our fan base don't understand basic concepts about life on the Planet Earth.

Ban Jim Kleinpeter !
Like a freaking LSU Upright Citizens Brigade.
Errrybody pleading for less information.
And here with Les running one of the most clandestine programs in the country.
And still they want less information.
I hope these people don't ever find out what is said on the pay sites and the radio.

It'd be one thing if we actually had a good offense and it mattered if a couple plays from practice were reported. Does anyone honestly think that's gonna help an opponent in a couple months?

It doesn't matter if everybody knows all our plays if we just execute!!! You all know this!

I don't think it is the end of the world to say the least.

But, there is an expectation about what gets reported and what doesn't. And, if LSU makes a specific request not to release video or discuss specifics of plays then there is an expectation that the media will adhere to that request.

Kleinpeter has a job to do, but he needs access to do it well. I have no idea whether or not LSU made a specific request or not, but reporters should be very wary of reporting things that they are only privy to because of their access.

In general, I don't think Kleinpeter does a very good job. He seems wrong a large percentage of the time. It wouldn't surprise me if he did something that he shouldn't have due to his ignorance.

And this CLEARLY falls within those parameters. 100%.

No there's not. And there never has been. Some reporters are coaches "pet's" and live for access to the program, and others DGAF. It's always been that way.

Les runs one of the most "closed" programs in America. That's his prerogative. But reporters serve an entirely different master. They serve their readership. And readers want information.

A reporter mentioned that LSU ran a wheel route. And grown men are agitated about that. This is Silly Land stuff here. The story is not that Les told Bonette to tell the press not to report something. The story is not that Jim Kleinpeter did what his job requires. The story is that grown men are so starved for drama that they take to a message board to demand that a writer gets sanctioned for saying LSU ran a wheel route on the third day of practice. Like it's a state secret. And like Les is the Keeper of The Secrets. And like Kleinpeter is some wild-eyed 1st Amendment Warrior. It's a freaking wheel route.

This all seems to be going over your head.

The type of play ran is not the issue. It's really pretty simple:

If the LSU program (Bonnette, Miles, etc.) specifically asked someone not to report on something, then it shouldn't be reported on. If the assumption is true (that they were asked not to report on it) and he did, then that should not have happened.
