If you hang around here long enough you would know he is what our weirdo negative fans relate to.

I hate to hear it but all good things come to end. This will be the end of an era.

Agree.

Jim Hawthorne is etched in Tiger lore. People revere John Ferguson now. However, he had his broadcasting quirks as well but none of that ever detracted from the broadcast itself. IMO, same with Hawthorne. Made mistakes in details but I was such an intense listener that not once do I ever recall getting lost while listening.

In many respects I’m sorry to see him retire. He was great. Everything I associate with his voice is LSU. Wish him the best in retirement. Big shoes to fill . . .

He went to Fox. If his competition is any of these local BR people he's waaaaaay overqualified.

Hawthorne was a big part of the LSU baseball magic during the '90s.

Mitchel, riving to the lane! 20, 30, 40! and it's caught for an easy pop fly to end the period on 1 hit, 2 fumbles, 6 fouls, and a turnover on downs.

Love him or hate him he's been the voice we've listened to for many years. Enjoy your retirement Jim!

OK, yeah he has a great radio voice. But that doesn't really help me when I can't figure out what in the actual frick is going on in a baseball game that he's calling...

I plan on applying for the job. I've only done high school sports but this was my dream job ever since age 5. Not kidding.

Will be the end of an era for sure. Glad he's sticking around for 2016 when we undoubtedly make the cfb playoffs, basketball final 4, and Omaha

Would be entertaining. What a sorry little piece of Louisiana trash that one was.
