It seems like he doesn't enjoy doing baseball. He constantly complains about how long the game is taking, the pitching changes, the throwing over to first base. I don't understand why he just doesn't turn it over to someone else if he doesn't want to be there.

The entire stadium was with him.

Hawthorne was extra grumpy tonight during the extra innings. He just didn't want the game to continue.

The whining and poor mouthing everything happening (anytime the Tigers struggle) makes it hard to even listen to. I agree with BBA, id rather my idiot, turn on a team and player in a heartbeat friends from work call a game if thats the best Hawthorne can muster up.

I used to defend him but he's getting worse and worse, by the year. He seems to have more power than ever in his job at LSU, so he ain't gonna fire himself. My ears are fricked.

Mistakes aren't the problem. Tone and attitude are. That old frick checked out in the 7th tonight. Every time someone failed after that, he got more and more pissed. It was a disgrace.

I have ragged Hawthorne maybe twice in my life....but I'm starting to see the light.

Nobody wanted the game to continue. Did you miss the part about the team getting on a bus straight to Auburn after the game???

I specifically heard him call Chris Bass "useless" a couple times

I can't disagree with him there. But I see your point. At least he tells it like it is.

The problem is...he is like that every game. He complains when pitchers take too long for his liking. Just seems like he would do football and basketball and let someoene else do baseball. Do most universities have 1 guy that does every sport? He just seems tired.

Do you find it at all professional to have a negative tone and attitude game after game in every single sport?

While I dont think an entire thread needs to be dedicated to the man...his act has gotten old. Real Old. I get depressed listening to the guy. He needs to hang it up.

I'm saying that there probably wouldn't have been a Hawthorne thread if the game ended in the ninth. He just went downhill fast after that.

Im in my 20s.

What did he do wrong again? Express the sentiment that everyone involved with the game felt? Oh damn he does suck.

Are you not realizing that he is like that in every single game in every single sport and that at one point he wasn't like that at all? Are you not realizing this???

I don't think people realize that his call of the game actually affects the fan base.

You can look at it one of two ways. Either he affects part of the fan base by impressing this negativity, or the fan base is pressing him towards accelerated negativity.

Either way, it reeks of Paul Allen.

I'm still not seeing the problem. Jim cares about the outcome of the game, just like me. We strike out to a SS who has never pitched..we both get upset.

I have no problem with him showing that he cares about the game. Would you rather some lifeless guy or some fake optimist who thinks we can win no matter how far we are down? I want someone real doing the games, not some guy not in touch with the reality of the game.

huh??

he is an announcer

LSU is playing an extra inning game against a CWS team from a year ago, in front of almost 10K people. Why isnt he excited???

There is no reason to have the type of attitude that he did. I dont care when the bus leaves for Auburn.

seriously, his negativity during football has really rubbed off, often sounds just like the rant

I'm not saying he cant be partial to a team but at least be even keeled, keep the negativity down

most importantly, dont make things sounds worse than they are, which is what he does on a routine basis
