Yeah, that's my main point. I realize it is a crime, but I don't think the crime doesn't fit the situation.
Right but my point is that the players should know better. They have more than the average person riding on their ability to stay out of trouble so they should have more self control and think about the consequences of what they are about to do before they do it. Even when the guy completely deserves it they should still control themselves

Important to note the "victim" has a past history of getting wasted and starting fights. He is a notorious drunk boxer.

This is just ridiculous, 75 pages smh. Well guess ill add my 2 cents. I am disappointed, he should have used better judgement. But im not going to trip he is a human and makes mistakes. Ive never agreed with holding football players to these Godlike statuses. I see Jeremy Hill as a regular person, just like you and I. I understand he was provoked, 2 wrongs dont make a right. So pretty much i want the punishment to be consistent. What if this was some random guy on the golf team or whatever that was in Hill's place. If he gets suspended for some games, it should be the same for Hill. If he gets kicked off the team, well unfortunately as much as I would hate it its only right the same happened to Hill.

Seventy two pages. Let us hope that JH is the only issue. I won't be able to assess the incident til we know the identity of the other person on the tape.

Simple battery is tried before a judge, no jury. A judge can easily say, guy number 1 used "fighting words," and got the fight he was looking for. Not guilty.
People who say it is illegal to punch someone over verbal insults are not being entirely accurate.
If you use fighting words you are implying your consent to fight. A fight is not always a crime.

So football players should get better/more benefits because they are football players, but be punished like everyone else.

Man, that's convenient here.

Back when I played golf in college a drunk KA called us a bunch of golf figs...we beat the shite out of him with 4 and 5-irons and the coach made us rake sand traps at the local muni every day for 2 weeks. It was hell. The KA's didn't mess with us any more though.

Legally? No. There is a shite load of good football players who could use that scholarship though.

You deserved it. Way over the top.
4 and 5 irons?
Geeeze
A single 9 iron would have been sufficient.
