re: Jayden Daniels will not drastically increase his draft stock with another CFB season.

What do you think the pro scouts are telling JD?
They are likely telling him something very similar to what I said in the OP.
Just because career advice for JD entering the NFL this season does not mean LSU fans should not support him if he decides to return for next season.

Comparing JD to Burrow lmfao

The Rant has to be the biggest collection of mouth breathing morons on planet earth. The board of directors for the mouth breathing morons of the Rant are the posters rooting for JD to leave. The ingratitude and hatred is fricking pathetic

I don't know about Pickett, but Burrow didn't have enough quality starts to show his ability. I had read reports that he was the best QB in camp at Ohio St, but they didn't select him, so he transferred to LSU without a training camp, which set him back most of the year. That's what set him back. Daniels is much more settled than Burrow was. However Daniels improved throughout the year, before slumping a little towards the end. If he manages to perform most of the year the way he did against Alabama, he will definitely improve his stock, and even in next years' QB richer draft, could still get selected in the first round. How he performs against Purdue may be the biggest factor in what he does. If he does great, then he will probably declare for the draft. If he only does okay, then he may have to come back to prove his worth.

How likely do you think Daniels, or any other QB prospect for that matter, will make a jump from a late round pick to 1st overall?
Burrow's situation is the exception, not the rule. People really need to stop comparing what happened with Burrow to Daniels. I could name a whole lot of LSU QBs that made no jump at all coming back

Look I don't think he is catching Caleb Williams....with that said I don't think his decision making is that far off. We saw him make great decisions for long stretches this year...then we saw him digress and improve and digress again. That tells me he isn't far off.
I feel like he could certainly improve his stock with a year back. I really think he could move up into the 2-4 range. I mean shite the NFL scouts are surely going to look at Bo Nix's time at Auburn in a normal offense against good competition and see that he was basically trash. I'm interested to see if Nix goes as high as everyone says he might.
The issue for Jayden is he could just as easily hurt his stock. I'm not sure how much that would cost him but I bet it could be a fairly decent amount. To me that is where the decision point lies.

You know what changed with Burrow from 2018 to 2019? Syncing up with his receivers. His decision making, ability to recognize defenses and arm talent was always there. He just lacked experience with his WRs in 2018 and the chemistry with his WRs grew through the entire season and carried into 2019.

Joe Burrow was a projected 6th round pick going into 2019. Anything can happen.
Everyone knows the biggest leap a player makes is from year 1 to year 2 stared - as was the case with Joe. Daniels has started 3 full seasons already - what makes you believe he will get any better? He is what he is at this point

We saw him make great decisions for 3 games: Florida, Ole Miss, and Alabama. That's one three game stretch in the middle of a 13 game season. Daniels' performances down the stretch are concerning. He appeared to have turned a corner and then went right back to the QB he was at the beginning of the season.

The comparison is the ability to make improvement heading into their Senior year.
ASU has proven to be a dumpster fire under Herm (now fired) so I give Daniels the benefit of the doubt on his ability to improve with better coaching.
You’re also the idiot who was telling us that Mettenberger was a better returning QB at LSU compared to Burrow before the 2019 season. So by default, anything you say in regards to QBs should be tossed into the trash.

I thought he did pretty well in the first half of the SEC Championship game too.

How about stop taking shots at this kid every opportunity you get and try putting that effort into supporting him and we will see what happens.

It's sickening, how bad some of you want this guy to leave LSU,
Posted on 12/20/22 at 3:40 pm to Blutarsky
Well now you’re just making shite up. I compared a bunch of past QBs numbers to make the point that our offense needed to rely on Burrow and those WRs more than we did in 2018.

I don't see why you wouldn't compare them. Nobody expected Joe Burrow to break out like he did in 2019. Both Joe and Jayden have similar first year stats at LSU.
Posted on 12/20/22 at 3:43 pm to LSUdude247
Look at the amount of plays both ran in their first year here. Look at the style of offense and run pass ratio. Playing QB is more than stats, there are plenty of QBs with gaudy numbers who were average to below average QBs.

I didn't take a shot at him? How is an evaluation to go to the NFL, his life long goal, taking a shot?

Did he? He had 4 straight 3 and out drives (or 3 with another resulting in a turnover on the 2nd play) totaling -6 yards in the first half. He was 1/6 for 9 yards with an interception, and a sack on those 4 drives. He had a pretty good start and a decent drive to close the half but was shut down the majority of the 1st half.

Man do you really think he’s going to flip that switch? I just don’t see it.
