It was a surprisingly large number of folks that wanted him benched. Quite funny looking back

He's been a warrior. Wasn't he out of the bowl game last year though?

He took a cheap shot vs Mizzou and came back & took over the game.

He took a bigger cheap shot vs Bama & came back next week to put up over 600 yards by himself vs Florida.

Dude is competitive & tough as hell

I don't think Jayden Daniels has missed a start his entire college football career, which is pretty crazy considering he's been a starter since his true freshman season 5 years ago

Embarrassed to say I wanted to bench him after this year's FSU game. Figured what's the point - Heisman lost, no realistic chance at NC, let's see what Nuss can do... Good reminder that I'm a fan, not a coach. A lesson I'm sure to forget next time I'm pissed off.

The criticism of him not pushing the ball down field was warranted. His hesitation limited the offense.

Dude went to work on that part of his game And a completely different player than he was last year.

Gone from late round / UDFA to day 1 pick in NFL draft.

It’s weird flex by some as though they KNEW he was going to have a season like this.

The criticisms were warranted to an extent, what wasn't warranted were the feelings that a QB couldn't improve and take his game to the next level. 'he is who he is' is what alot of folks said.

Once again everyone claiming LSU fans were mad he was starting after Mississippi State shown their stupidity.

There was a valid criticism of JD5 that he wouldn’t push the ball down the field and utilize his WRs up until that point. I was one of said posters and I am delighted JD5 proved me wrong as the kid is electric.

It’s not even about knowing he would have this great of a season. No one knew he was this good. But calling for him to be benched for a back up throwing picks was stupid. A lot of people showed their arse on here. He was always the best option.

Did you not visit this board post FSU? Or at all in 2022 and 2023 leading up to this season?

There were folks like us in the offseason that predicted he would take a step forward with another year in the system and a full offseason to develop more chemistry with his coaches and teammates. Some of us used Burrow's growth from 2018-2019 and Mett's growth from 2012-2013 as an example of transfers that come here and improve in their 2nd year starting. We got laughed at and were told JD's been starting since he was a freshman so he is what he is and couldn't improve and "that dog won't hunt", and other similar comments.

Remember when everyone said he wouldn’t last a season in the SEC because he was too skinny and the SEC would break him in half?

This one still gets me chuckling.

FU to all the JD lovers who won't face reality

quote:

AFter the Boutte announcement you've got to face reality. I agree that JD was the guy for this year with his particular skill set in a transition year with a brand new Oline. I agree that in reality, it was not likely for us to win 9 games with either Nuss or Walker starting. Even Brennan, let me throw that in. Having recognized his positives, if you can't see his limitations i don't know what to say. He will never be a a good passing QB. doesn't mean he can't have some good games against inferior opponents. But the reality is he is very unlikely to have a decent game against any competition with a decent defense. Yes, yes, miracles could happen, but do you really think he will start seeing the field and throwing receivers open? Do you? we will have a very good oline next year. we will have adequate running game potential. we will have an upgrade at tight end, and we have superior reeivers. Which means, we need a qb that can actually pass the ball effectively against the BETTER defenses we will be facing. Yes, he had a great game against Alabama, but they were caught unawares when he actually threw the ball downfield. It was not great passing but our receivers made him look good. this will not happen again, or it is not likely. Boutte, one of the best receivers in the country, never had a decent game with JD at the helm. His best game was the second half against Georgia. He was coming back until JD announced he was returning. He saw the handwriting on the wall. Yes, Kelly will start JD. i know this is true. I like Kelly, and like what he is doing. I disagree with him about JD, and believe he will correct his error after we get into the SEC schedule, at which time the damage will be done as far as competing for any kind of title. I'm sick of the posts for all the JD haters. we don't hate the kid. He is giving his all, and he did a helluva job this season. He should've been replaced after Arkansas. Just the way it is. You will all be still defending him after he craps the bed next season. Because of our defense and Oline it is possible we beat Florida STate in the opener, despite JD's inadequacies, and he will look all-world against the rentawins. But after we get into a real schedule, he will look very pedestrian. I hope we have a helluva punter next season! Geaux Tigers!
