I'm sure someone else has posted the same sentiment on this in the past few days, but I feel like this vocal minority of people wanting Jay Johnson fired or claiming he's on the hot seat are simply crazy. I will be the first one to tell you that I'm extremely disappointed in the team's performance so far and some of that blame certainly does fall on a head coach, but let's look at this realistically: if not Jay, then who? In my opinion, Jay is a perfect fit for LSU baseball and losing a few series in a rebuild year AFTER WINNING A NATTY should not have him anywhere near a hot seat. Have faith. Jay will figure this out even if it takes a year. Firing a coach will not turn this team into title competitors anytime soon.

I think you have to kick the tires on Bruce Bochy
He has a couple of World Series rings

I don't think Bruce Bochy is the worst idea, I doubt he will leave the majors though. I just think Jay should be fine for the rest of the season barring a complete and utter fallout. We've had close series with the best teams in the SEC let alone the whole country. This team is a wash in my book, but Jay Johnson certainly isn't.

had the sec schedule been flipped maybe our inexperienced players could have gotten more acclimated
it's been a brutal stretch of games and playing in three of the toughest road venues in MSU, Ark and now Tenn sandwiched around Fla and Vandy

The idiots always feel like their voices need to be heard when tough times come around. They'll be the ones to pretend that they have been the biggest supporters all along when the team turns it around.

Not many people want him fired. We thought we would see more development from the players but it just hasn't happened yet. It still could happen this year but the hitters and pitchers have to get hot very quick or this becomes a rebuilding year. If we don't start winning soon its probably time to get the young guys as much time as possible.

I'm really interested to see who CJJ gets on campus next year. I think he is the man for the job and he will consistently produce good teams. But, it is so hard to win the championship. If's hes not consistent I have no problem moving in a few seasons.

The reality is that Jay is a good coach. The reality is that the 2023 team was absolutely stacked with talent. An average coach could've won a championship with that team. At the end of the day all that matters are results. Jay has bought himself the benefit of the doubt after winning the ship in 23'. But he needs to continue to earn it.

Game 2 of Fla and Vandy are the two games that really were the tough losses
Win those at home and that's two top ten series wins at the time and things would be in a lot better shape

I don’t know, that 8181 poster sure seems like he wants Jay fired.

We lost too many studs last year. That equates to senior leadership on and off the field. Pitching needs huge upgrades and a new Coach

There are always a few yahoos on every message board. Anyone with a brain knows Jay is beyond safe and his seat is cold with those that matter.

He’s got the #1 recruiting class for the next two classes, so he’s working to upgrade the talent. The next two seasons will tell us all a lot on whether or not Jay can manage a program that’s ultra competitive on a consistent year to year basis.

Coach put it plainly on the players shoulders of wheter or not they want to play their best. NO ONE can make them change their attitude or ways. Aftere striking out, some walk back to the dugout like no big deal. JJ had to beg Kling yes he of no hitting to come back. Maybe he should've let him walk. It seems kind of like marriage counseling! Juust because one wants to stay married won't heal the damage. LSU has a world of talent but NO team. Coach must adjust his thinking to play the ones that want to be out there. If you're losing, lose with ones that give a good old college try.

Fire a coach less than a 1/3 through a season following winning the National Championship and see who wants to come here. Good luck. People claiming he should be fired, or he isn't right for the job or the moment, or is over his head are insane and live miserable lives. And he is not on the hot seat this season or next season or the next. If he is then so most of the coaches in the SEC because they also don't win Nattys every season or get to Omaha every season.
