We literally just pulled 2 aces in the portal last summer while on a natty run

Winning nattys pulls ace’s, losing regionals doesn’t. Blowing a chance at hosting a super is a colosal frickup.

I don’t disagree but unless we grab a couple elite arms out the portal and pray Herring stays,, our pitching staff is weak for SEC play

Why wouldn't we. Did u not see us pull Holman/Jump last summer?

Also Shores will be back. High hopes on Noot and Johnson.

Make.no.mistake, Jay will absolutely be big game hunting in the portal tho

That’s great. Let’s see if he can win without the best pitcher in baseball the last 20 years.

What if I told you the most valuable pitcher in Omaha last year wasn’t Paul Skenes?

Kendall Rogers alluded that Jay is going to do well in the portal. I am excited.

I don’t know if any of this is true. If anything, Kling and Neal are about the same. But my bigger point is that I don’t want to cleanse the roster of talented players because they haven’t lived up to the hype yet. Maybe Paxton Kling just becomes a defensive and running replacement, and that’s ok. We need program guys too.
yep. It's okay for Jay to try to land a better replacement for those guys. But, I don't want to shite all over them either. You need 4 year players that improve at a slower pace as well as guys who figure it out quicker.

Casual take. I'd say our natty run somewhat hamstrung our portal haul. Still were able to grab Braswell, Holman and Jump but could have been better if Jay had time to cook

Jay not bringing Ack back in was the problem.

100 out of 100 coaches in college and MLB make the same move.

3,846 posters out of 3,846 posters on this board agreed with the move before it happened.

He paid for Tanks and Skenes, but it’s been said LSU is the leader in baseball NIL so I’m not convinced many capable coaches couldn’t have done the same.

For an offensive guy in year 3 with almost all of his recruit and NIL picks, the construct and development of this offense was no bueno.

Worth noting that he inherited a lot of his best players from Maineri.

I need to see more than just recruiting rankings before I’m sold. He’s definitely not worthy of the Saban/Bama nonsense comparison.

Jay Johnson is building a monster program my arse, he couldn't even build a pyramid with 3 blocks. I've seen better coaching decisions by Stevie Wonder, and he is blind and has never coached.

Why would you reference Stevie Wonder when talking about somet You’ve seen?

Your whole take is horrendous, but this stands out as especially stupid.

Next years team will look nothing like this years

We might have 7 new starters on the field and top 2 new pitchers

Jay has some work to do

I’m not sure Jay is a top 3 coach in the SEC. Probably top 5 but it’s not definite.

His defenses are consistently subpar. The pitching is not his area however pitching changes are and he’s average at that imo.

Recruiting and offense are his things and I wouldn’t put him over Vitello and Schlosnagel in those areas. O’Sullivan and Van Horn are great recruiters and program builders with consistent high level performance too.

Jay took some egg on the face this year. He needs to show a LOT more.

He picked the players that got .5 hits / inning tonight and largely underwhelmed all year

And that’s with giving Tommy a ton of Lipsey’s money which most baseball programs don’t have. Doesn’t take a genius to spend money

I saw very little development into this season. I saw a lineup he has to tweak daily. I saw a poorly constructed offense full of guys trying to hit solo HRs or whiff. No running game. shite bunting / fundamental baseball on offensive.

Yes I’m holding him to a high standard but when you have all the advantages in the world I don’t want to hear any bullshite excuses about poor 11.8 scholarships. PLENTY of teams with far less resources that had far better and more consistent offenses.
