No. Bertman's record cannot be repeated, more competition now.

I agree there is more competition but disagree that it can’t be done. Resources are higher, talent levels higher, transfer portal, there is a lot in play. If anyone can do it Jay Johnson can.

We don't need to invoke his name every time.

This might be true, but all we can ask for as fans is to be in it. No losing regionals or even supers

And there it is. That's why you are getting shite on, by people who know you are a dumbass. No team is not losing in regionals or even supers. That's absolutely ridiculous thinking, and it's why I said as soon as we don't win one you will be crying like a bitch.

College baseball has so much parity now and the format is more difficult to win. When Skip dominated there were only maybe 10 teams that had a realistic shot at winning most years. More schools are investing in baseball now.

It could happen. The portal will allow for super teams every year. Only prob I see is baseball lends itself to best team not necessarily winning all the time. I have no doubt as long as he is here we’ll be top 5 .

Making Omaha really often, probably. Winning it all not so much. People forget we were one hit/play from going home serveral times.

Popular opinion might end up being what you say, but it will because Jay will have been successful during a period in time which college baseball ascends into the mainstream driven by the higher quality on field product, which is in turn a by product of more talented players taking the college route.

It won't be because Jay will have matched Bertmans successes, only that he had success during a time in which college baseball is more popular, and more recently, recency bias being what it is.

If we are there every year, and winning it some, that’s enough.

Making it to Omaha every year is “enough”. Good to know.

Jay seems to have reloaded the pitching staff. Hitting is a lot more of a question mark where you lost a ton of experience/talent.

Both small guys.

Nicky is not the goat or he would win the CFB natty every year or at least every other.

I'll take our coach...

This is why the modern era sucks.

It’s never good enough. What happened to enjoying the season. We put all this emotional energy into it and our team just won the natty. Within days you see people asking what’s next, what can we do next year, can we have another run like Bertman….

Can we just enjoy the moment ?

100% agree. You just won the natty when even making it to Omaha looked in doubt the last third of the season.

So, he's going to now leave and fail in the majors, and then return to an SECW team? I hope you're wrong.

I believe Jay will win multiple titles but at Arizona after a runner up cws finish his first year and a ncaa regional participant second year he went two years without making tourney at Arizona in a lesser pac 12 before returning to Omaha in 2021
I do think lsu is a much better job but the sec is a much tougher conference

We’ve already seen two sec teams miss tourney right after winning natty

Obviously the portal will help lsu reload and no way lsu misses tourney next year

The stars are aligned with baseball the next ten years. Jay is a great recruiter. Transfer portal and NIL will make the rich teams richer. He’s also extremely good in game. Leading Beloso off in the last game, moving around Thompson and Dugas. The pitching decisions. Unbelievably good.

Remember when you said LSU wouldn't make it out of a regional this year?
