Last years offense was really explosive. But take a closer look at the talent. Was the on field product as productive and prolific as it could have been? We all know how good the big 4 were last year. James Wright doesn't catch one freakin' ball last year...........not one. Yet the Bengals think he is talented enough to draft him in the 7th round. He caught a ball last week against the saints (hmmmm). How can a receiver who didn't catch a ball his senior year get drafted? Well, he didn't get on the field much because JC Copeland and (insert random TE) were always on the field. How explosive could this team have been with 3 and 4 wide receiver sets (Bonne as 4th WR) while running hill out of a one-back set or from the gun? This is a prime example of not maximizing talent due to sticking to a scheme that dos not maximize efficiency based on personnel. What good is it to have 4 really good receivers if you only use 2 at any given time?

Fast forward to this year, underachieving again albeit with inexperience at WR and QB. This years offense should be much more productive than where it is. There is no effin' way this team should not average 200 yards passing per game (even with AJ). Of course, this would loosen up the running game and put the safeties where they belong.

I dont think last year at this time it was clear to the observer just how good our skill players were last year. We all thought they were All SEC NFL players. But they are DOMINATING in the league right now. If last years offense talent wasn't enough to get this team to Atlanta last year, (with a struggling but 4th ranked defense in SEC last year) than I am discouraged looking forward until there is concerted change in philosophy.

Yeah, I know. This thread isn't original. But the fact that I started should tell you I dont care

You may say this, but doesn't he have a point? All of that talent and the most you can muster from a production standpoint is a middle of the road ranking in the SEC. That kind of talent at the skill positions should warrant a #1 finish in the SEC. No other team I can think of in recent memory has had that much talent at the skill positions on one team.

We all know about 3000, 1500, 1000, and 1000. It should have been better. More people should have been involved.

But the two we did use each had over 2k yards. Are you suggesting that we should have spread the love instead?

It's not like we needed to pass more, either. The talent at rb was too good to go pass first.

I cannot remember what Miles/Cameron excuses were last year. Five starters in NFL as rookies. Throw in Blue to to the mix. That may have been our most underachieving team in recent history.

Great job Miles!

You don't get those last 3 numbers if more are involved.

AGAIN, the offense was not the problem. It was at the upper end of the SEC. Also, you won't get huge numbers out of an LSU offense in general because we're not in the hurry-up/spread 90% of the game like others. Possessions are limited... for both teams playing.

Did no one watch the games last year?
The defense sucked arse in the game against Georgia (until they finally came around later in the year) and Mett threw into double and triple coverage that cost us the game against Ole Miss.
STFU people about why we didn't win a championship with the OFFENSIVE talent. It takes more than offense to win championships.
Just ask the Big 12.

Another reason our offense should have been more prolific

At LSU it takes great defenses and mediocre to bad offenses.

nah, I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying use the talent, spread the field more with all the WR talent. Keep the run/pass ratio the same. This would have made Hill even more effective. I'm just sayin' it could have been prolific........an offense as nightmarish as the 2011 defense. thats all

Well they drafted him for his special teams ability, which he showed at LSU. He was literally drafted for the role he played at LSU. He's a Courtney Roby type player.

We ran a lot of 3-4 WR sets last season. We ran a lot of plays out of the Shotgun...

We averaged 10.4 yards per pass attempt...3rd best in CFB. Someone should tell the Saints to cut one of their 2 fullbacks

I think it was pretty clear how good Landry and Beckham were after the TCU game.

It was prolific...

We controlled the clock while also maintaining the big play ability. We led the nation in 3rd down % - 2nd best 3rd down % in over 10 years behind Andrew Luck at Stanford

shut up. You have zero reading comprehension skills. I wasn't complaining about the offense last year. I was using the skill from last year to illustrate and compare to this years team and that both did not reach potential.

yes, there are 3 phases to the game. Special teams was really good (see OBJ against ole piss). FG kicking was phenomenal. The D was admiral after the UGA game. So spare me the "but there is more to the game than offense" crap. I'm sick of you tards extracting one piece of a post and attacking it.

and ftr, I am always positive and optimistic relative to the masses, and have supported Miles and the team no matter what and will continue to do so. Dont lump me into a "group" of people that you perceive I belong in based on your inability to comprehend a simple post
