Much like the word “literally,” the word “coward” is more often used incorrectly than it is used correctly. A coward is someone who lacks courage. Although it is certainly despicable and dishonorable to spit in the face of a man who could probably kick your arse, you’ve got to admit, it takes some bravery. A coward would have definitely done nothing.

He spit on Landry's back when he was walking away. Landry didn't know about it until after the game. Cowardly.
Had he spit in Landry's face, I have a feeling Peters would have been eating some fists.
