J. Lee threw one pick against Moo St before the Bama game....against Bama he threw a pick that was a receiver's fault then rushed a bad throw off of a terrible snap....8-0 with no JJ and one pick...two early picks against Bama and Miles goes back to his non-throwing QB love affair....'08 was a terrible season for J. Lee thx to being unprepared as a freshman and thrown to the wolves....I say he was hardly a bad QB....when Lee lead us down the field against Kentucky in '11 season and Les gave JJ the glory td to cap the drive fresh off his suspension we all knew we were screwed

Because he was incredibly immobile (and worse on the run), so if JJ wasn't able to escape the Bama D line pressure, Lee definitely wasn't going to either.

This person actually watched the game !!

Flynn threw 3 in the first half and LSU won.

Jordan Jefferson was 5 of 13 for 30 yards, 2.3 yards avg vs Georgia in the SEC championship game..

I'm not saying it would have made any difference.. but Lee was having a solid senior season. 62.3% 14 tds 3 ints, 8.7 avg

Jefferson was having nice similar stats as well, except in the SEC championship the offense was really stale passing.

My problem is that they didn't at least attempt a different plan of action.. because clearly nothing was working.. why not make a switch just to see if it catches fire? Just like this past Bama game..I would have preferred to see more passing when the running game was clearly not going to work.. even with the passing being ineffective at times.. we still picked up first downs and even scored a long TD to dural. Dural also had an incredibly catch on a 3rd and forever from our on endzone.. so I don't know. Hopefully we just field an all-around better team and take it to them this season.

but at the end of the day, i just don't think it would matter much.

We were talking about 9-6.

Well aware, IO was talking about Jefferson's shot against Alabama in the NC Game where the offense literally couldnt cross the 50 and he was throwing shovel passes to linebackers

...but Les apparently so no reason to try Lee who had a good season

Says the king of Lee haters .

JL and JJ teams on this board was absolutely race related.
One guy was all class and the other wasn't.
Yet we still argue about them.

I don't think it started that way but it sure ended that way.
Still does today.

Those were nice stats that you gave us for Lee during his senior year. Now, give us his stats for the 1st Bama game that year and career stats against Bama.

Like Jefferson or not, he was the vastly more mobile quarterback of the two and he was running for his life in that game. The offense line had a terrible game and I don't see how putting Lee in to be protected by that line would've done anything to help us.

Mettenberger was on the sideline...

I don't know. I honestly can't believe I'm participating in this thread. But here's my take.

Lee had a nice season going, he did. But it's not like he was lighting the world on fire. He was hardly asked to do much in any of our games until Bama. Yes, we played good teams, but our defense, special teams, and running games, in that order, carried the team. Not Lee and our prolific passing game. Do any of you think BHarris was lighting it up last year prior to the Bama game? Nope. But he was 11 TDs and 0 INTs up until that game. That doesn't mean he was doing great, just like Lee wasn't doing great prior to Bama in 2011 either.

Get to the Bama game, and the guy CLEARLY doesn't have what it takes to win that night. He was AWFUL in that game, and bullshite it was any receiver's fault. As mentioned earlier, on the bad snap, there were guys running wide arse open and he threw it right to the safety. He was a deer in headlights, just like in 2008. Enter JJ and we start moving the ball on the ground against Bama, which nobody did. And we had beaten Bama the year before with JJ (although, yes...I remember Lee came in with JJ injured and threw a nice first down to Rueben Randle to basically ice the game). As the coach, it's a tough call. Here's a guy that CLEARLY doesn't have what it takes to beat Bama with that ridiculous defense they have, and here's another guy that gives the team another dimension, is tough, and has in fact beaten them before, so likely more confident.

That's why I think Lee never saw the field again after Bama except mop up time...because the decision was made to ride with JJ going forward after the Bama game to get him prepared better, as he had missed half the season.
The unfortunate thing is, we wind up somehow matched against Bama again, and they have a well over a month to rest up, and in fact to prepare for JJ.

And they whipped our asses with 5 FGs and a late garbage TD.

It's over though. We need to beat them so badly just to get that taste out of our mouths. It really sucks the life out of this board, and in fact, the entire fan base, to continually re-hash that game.

The greatest thing that les ever did for lee was not put him in that game. It made him a legend far greater than what would have happened if he had gotten in that game.

I think he should have played but I think it would have made little to no difference.

Because for whatever reason Lee fans still want to bring it up. They're both long gone, time to get over it. At least the people who think Etling should play are living in the present.

2008 D was bad (and yes, I remember UGA and UF hanging 50 on us), but as bad as Tepper's D???

(well you're right... I just reviewed all the other scores, and 2008 was BRUTAL from a points allowed perspective)
Actually '97 was better and '08 was a slightly better scoring defense than '15.

Lee basically checked out in Tuscaloosa. Saban was in his head, scared to get hit. Chuck and duck. 7 Ints in limited action v Bama. Sad but true.

When we played Bama in November their defense was elite. They kicked Lee's arse no question about it. When we played Bama in the NC thier defense was flawless. They kicked JJ's arse no question about it. We beat them in November and they kicked our arse in the NC.

People who think Lee would have moved the ball are fricking clueless. Drew Brees couldn't move the ball if he was out there for LSU. Our oline got their shite pushed in big time. Bama's D would have folded Lee arse like a napkin. Miles literally saved Lee's life by not playing him.

If I remember right, Georgia had two pick sixes and another pick that directly led to a field goal. Hard to hang that one on the defense.

JL should've gotten a shot in the mulligan game. 99% chance it wouldn't have mattered, but Les should've tried. Bc it was 100% obvious early on that JJ couldn't move the offense.

I agree with this and I'm not a J. Lee fan just stating things as I see them...hindsight 20-20....fact is I believe that we needed JJ to pull out the 9-6 game...however, when JJ couldn't pass the 50 in the conference champ. or Natty then Lee should've gotten his shot just the same as JJ did...offense was stagnant with JJ except for teams we could beat up in the run game....id prefer to have a QB capable of making plays with his arm and let my run game and D do its own work than have a one dimensional offense that my momma can game plan for...dive middle, wr screen, option to short side....like most here it's hard to let go and I can see both sides of the argument....truth is that was one of the most enjoyable teams I've watched play in any sport and any session even with all the controversy....strikes a nerve but it was a heck of a ride and glad for seasons like this that fans can remember and call up while we are anxiously awaiting what lies ahead
