I think we ruined Lee with that 2008 season. He wasn't ready and we just had to throw him out there.

exactly

Out of everyone, Jarrett Lee should have the most venom for Ryan Perrilloux.

If Perrilloux wasn't such an immature douche, he would have been the starting QB for the last two years, with Lee being a fill-in option. Lee would be vying to take over the starting role in 2010, along with Jefferson.

Lee has all the ability to be a very solid college QB, we just fricked his psyche beyond repair.

Lee is damaged goods and needs to stay on the sidelines. Damn shame with all that potential.

We got lucky enought to get the guy who started playing football when he was 16. In doing so, when the bad things started happening, he didn't have the mental ability to deal with them, and really let them ruin any confidence he had. The other guys were throwing basically the day after they left the womb.

Colt McCoy looked like shite his freshman year, (so did Stafford, Bradford,.....) but Mack Brown didn't yank him off the field as a sophmore. He started and learned from his mistakes and progressively improved. You DON'T get better by sitting on the freaking bench. JL must have been god awful in practice and had poor workout/film room habits. You don't just yank your starting QB because he throws picks as a freshman. All QB's throw picks as freshmen. Must be something going on with him that Dumb and Dumber saw that prompted them to pull him in favor of Bubba.(From Forrest Gump) JJ's shown very few of the intangibles you need in a championship QB. GC's (Dumber) playcalling and personel packages are horrendous, but he's calling exactly what he thinks Bubba can run in a game. The playbook is currently dumbed down to the high school level because the QB can't run what the OC wants. With JL starting or getting most of the snaps as a sophmore, the offense at least scores points and gets better. I don't think he would have thrown all the P6's as a sophmore. All the other sophmore QB's looked a lot better their second years because they got the chance to play and work out the kinks on the field. JL didn't......

JL wasn't that bad in practice, he was praised actually by Miles, IT IS THE SYSTEM! If you don't run around like a lost chicken, then you don't play.

All of this, and I mean all, qb, o line, wr inconsistancy, penalties, etc...ALL of it is because of the system that was force f'd down the players throats.

So the stats are meaningless, get a new OC and lets see then who is what with what talent.

We have nothing to gauge any of theses guys talents because of the GC circus that he calls an offense.

When you say LSU's offense, what player comes to mind? Not one in particular, cause we had NO identity and therefore no one was utilized to their potential.

Yep, Jarret Lee was not developed to run or do a play-action type pass. We don't even know if he can run, because all his plays were designed as pocket style passes. The coaches have really messed up this kid who has a very quick ball release. For those of you who might not remember, Jarret Lee was highly touted as a four-star recruit.

If I remember right he broke a lot of Matt Flynn's previous records there.

Lee is more physically talented than Gilbert!!?? Based on what??? Gilbert is a 5 star stud and showed that in the second half last night (against a terrific SEC defense). Does anyone really see Lee doing that?? Geez!

I don't agree that Lee is more talented than Gilbert but he is probably close to par. Lee has just as strong an arm and a quicker release. Lee lit up several SEC defenses last season but along the way was asked to do too much by a coaching staff trying to compensate for a leaky defense. BTW Gilbert threw 4 picks last night in what I deem as a valiant effort. Why, because the coaches asked him to do things to compensate for the defenses inabliity to shut down 'Bama. Sound familiar. In many ways LSU played 'Bama better in '08 and '09 than Texas did last night, McCoy's absence notwithstanding.

and last night gilbert was put into the NC game against bama's defense...

gilbert did okay considering the circumstances,,,,compare that outing to J. Lee's outing against the vaunted La Tech defense.

If Lee gets a good system And QB coach he does very well. You don't play for just two years and become a four star recruit with his numbers and not have talent. What it boils down too is line play. Saban understands that. Look at bama. Mccelroy looked like crap and they won. New OC and QB coach JL pushes jJ for starting next year if the slates are clean.

Lee has a better make up as a passer than either McCoy and McElroy.

That said, Gilbert is vastly more talented.

Also, Gilbert had a Lee-esque performance last night with 4 picks and a pick 6 to boot. So while I think he will be a fantastic player, I'd hesitate to lump him into the "What does he have that Lee doesn't group."

That's news to this Longhorn fan. Here is what Colt did his RS-Freshman season: Started all 13 games ... a Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist ... recognized as The Sporting News' National Freshman of the Year ... honored as the Touchdown Club of Columbus' National Freshman of the Year ... was twice named the Cingular All-America Player of the Week ... named the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches and the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year by The Associated Press ... earned second-team All-Big 12 honors ... claimed Alamo Bowl Offensive MVP honors. became the first freshman QB in UT history to win 10 games ... completed 217-of-318 passes (68.2%) for 2,570 yards and 29 TDs (seven INTs) ... the 29 TD passes set a UT single-season record and tied the NCAA's single-season freshman mark ... set UT's single-game record with six TD passes against Baylor.

GG > JJ, and its not even close in my mind. Jefferson is a sophmore that has started 16 games in two years, while Gilbert has yet to make his first career start. He was just thrown into one of the most difficult situations for any QB, never mind the fact he was a true freshman, in the biggest game of the college year. Both had non-existant running games, while we had better weapons at receiver. Gilbert has better long term potential, by far, and I would trade heads-up right now, in a second.

Lee's mind was fried buy Miles and company. LSU would gain 3,4, maybe 5 yards on 1st down then some crazy arse play call on 2nd to put Lee in 3rd and long. This happened the whole 08 season. I am not sure Lee's mind will ever be right to play QB.
