he looks about 265ish to me, a member of that 2018 class that has seemed to be pretty meh

O has been talking up he and Damone Clark so hopefully we get a couple more contributors from that class. I've always thought Clark would be good.

He played his high school ball at my parents' high school (they were among the first few graduating classes there way back in the day). Because of that, I followed his recruitment pretty closely and have really been hoping to see him break out at some point during his time at LSU. Maybe this year will be the springboard for him. Sure hope he becomes yet another dominant weapon up front for our defense.

Damone is a damn beast. He stood out on special teams last year and looks huge. He'll be a big contributor from here on out

He was a stand up DE/OLB at Dallas Carter.

Just hope he can stay out of trouble here at LSU. Don't know if it still is, but that team use to be full of inner city thugs and gang members. I saw the game that year that Permian high played them in the playoffs (without their star player, Boobie Myles, who had blown out his knee earlier in the season). Dallas Carter players are generally huge thugs in their mid 20's and very physical players who thrive at being dirty low down cheap shot artists. The refs were garbage that game, ignored Dallas-Carter's dirty tactics, and didn't give a fuk, and the smaller outmanned but very gutsy Permian team, that had many players who had motors that never stopped, came up just short and lost. I just hope that Jarrel stayed away from the gang members, illicit drug usage, and other negative influences that permeate that school and makes a clean start of things here at LSU.

He blew up in size/weight,but it isn't bad weight. Clearly he was on a different program than MB.

Last year was listed at 235, this year at 264, that's 29 pounds. The average, dedicated person can gain 2 pounds of muscle a year for 24 total.

Cherry has the benefit and support of playing for LSU. Using the facilities, especially the food.

Not sure if Shea is exaggerating. I bet he weighed more than 225 when he arrived on campus

Fehoko said Cherry's up to 280 pounds — nearly 20 more pounds than his 6-foot-3, 264-pound listed frame on the official roster. Teammates are calling him "Whole Cherry" now, sophomore outside linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson said.

"He's strong as a rock," Fehoko said. "He benches 485 (pounds). For his size? He's a freak of nature."

"up to 280" and "approaching 300" are two very different things.

I hate to be an arse but if Cherry was 300 he would be fat. straight up. fortunately hes not close to 300.

probably will be down to 270-275 when the season starts.

I was wondering why nobody’ed posted that info. Was mentioned on OTB this morning.

Sounds like he’s putting in the work, on the field and off. I’ll be excited to see him play if he produces commensurate with what people are saying about him.

To mince words, up to 280 from 220 lbs. sorta is “approaching 300.” He’s not about to cross the finish line, for sure, but that’s a huge jump that puts him in the ballpark with DT weight.

And I don’t know exactly what they meant, but OTB said they were moving him “inside.” Again, not sure whether that just means 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT. I actually love it when a DE moves to DT—they usually move better than a HS DT, are strong like an ox and violent.

IDK, Lawrence is 6'3 and listed at 317 and he is solid. Muscle fiber is more dense than fat. If he adds lean muscle he can add weight and still be solid. It also depends on body structure. If a player has broader shoulders and hips they can add more good weight.
