but it has become apparent that he has pretty much no shot to turn this around within 1 week.

What? It literally takes a single game to go on a hot streak. A baseball slump and hot streak can begin at any time.

Doesn't make sense to keep him in the lineup when it is a guaranteed out.

It doesn't make sense to keep one of your best bats on the team in the lineup? The only way, literally the only way, for a good bat to break out of a slump is at bats. You never bench one of your best bats in the last week of the season.
Jones is....
3rd in batting average(of players with real abs)
2nd in ops
1st in hrs
2nd in doubles
1st in total bases
2nd in slugging (of players with real abs)

You never bench that guy in the cws. Come on.

My only gripe is the amount of meatballs they all watch down the pipe. I figure it’s a team approach but whoa, they stare down some good pitches.

So Skenes couldn’t strike you out 5 times in a row?

You are nowhere near Omaha nor offer anything of value for the team. Likely never even attended LSU.

Just another miserable loser living vicariously via insults of a 20 year old kid who puts it on the line everyday against the very best.

While you couldn't sniff his jock in the real world.

It's extremely concerning. Anyone who doesn't hear alarm bells has their head in the sand

You play the averages. He is a high risk, high reward player as a hitter. He strikes out a ton, but has 20 homers and 70 RBI on the season. And he has batted .322 for the year. Those are great numbers and he has great numbers for his career at LSU. He batted .500 in the super regional. You just hope he doesn't perform like last night at the plate for the rest of the series.

On the bright side, he was excellent on defense.

also, the pitching we faced tonight is by far the best he we will see the rest of the way.

you gotta keep him in because of defense and if him and frey get it going then we're going to win the whole thing as long as the other are themselves

Everyone has done something five times in their life they haven’t wanted to. You not realizing that shows a lack of self reflection.

This post is one of those mistakes and I’m sure you have posted four others.

Please post your tape of hitting a 98 mph fastball, nasty slider, softball beer league…anything.

I'm hoping the best is coming for Jones in this CWS. If he continues to strike out maybe he'd better plan on coming back next year to build up his stock.
That was a joke!

5th one comes with a * from Jeff Head

No replay. No real comment from the announcers. If he went, replays galore. Wish Bear had complained forcing ESPN to at least replay what he was grumbling about.

Thank goodness LSU had great pitching and an awesome defense. Head was being Head.
