And yet another pitiful hire by Shrimpy.

Are you 100% positive he has any control at all?
I'm not convinced he is. He came here at Joe Brandy's recommendation.

I'm convinced Max Johnson is a below average SEC QB no matter who coaches him.

So you’re saying that somehow Joe Brady had authority to choose Ed’s hire?

Joe Brady is not God. How do you know Brady just didn't dump him on LSU to get rid of him?

Orrrrr you just don’t want to accept that Max wasn’t quite ready.

I can't criticize the o-line anymore. johnson is just terrible not stepping up in the pocket.

It has been very obvious this year that Max has been instructed to run out of bounds/slide/avoid contact whenever he runs. There have been numerous plays where he could have gained several more yards and/or get a first down with minimal to no contact, but he goes down early to avoid any chance of contact. Last year, he often times initiated contact when running the ball

Our scheme seems to actually coach against his skill-set. So it's hard to judge.

He misses reads, doesn't see open receivers, seems to throw off balance - just painful to watch.

The difference between his play at the end of '20 vs UF and OM and now is day and night.

IMO, taking away his running really reduces his effectiveness.

No you said that. I said exactly what I typed. That is common knowledge Brady indorsed Peetze. And O confirmed that.

That's about as whacky as hiring a coordinator with out interviewing him.

What is his skill set?
Damn sure isn't mobility as Ranter's claimed last year.
So Peetze taught him how to back peddle and throw it away?
I'm saying Peetze could be that bad or he's not fully to blame.

Max isn't bad. Not great, just average. He's the least of LSU problems this year.

Having an average quarterback in this day and age is a problem, though. Tough to be a true contender with without good QB play unless you are incredible at literally every other position group (UGA)

How can these two statements be true? There is no “scheme” that magically fixes screwing up progressions and poor pocket management

We are not asking a guy with average arm strength to rip off 15 yard outs to the boundary consistently. We are asking Max to play quarterback, and so far, the results have been inconsistent at best

I agree. He has regressed and I don’t think there is any coach on staff that can develop him to be a really good qb. I hope the new coach can bring it out of him

n addition to all that look at the play calling with him.

Specifically the read option. Pootz doesn't do any of that.

2020 6 games 54 carries 114 yards 2TD
2021 9 games 58 carries -18 yards 0TD

I've been saying this all year. Someone in the media needs to ask the obvious question: "WHY, did you all tell Max to NOT run the ball." I guarantee some dumb arse coach told him "we dont want you to run - ever. We would rather
see you throw it away or take the sack than to scramble for yards"

Tough to be a true contender when your defense has been atrocious all season (minus the Bama game). O line has been bad, and we've had absolutely no run game (minus the UF game.)

Ill say it again, Max Johnson is the least of LSU's problems.

Or Johnson just isn't that great and people on here hyped him up as a possible heisman contender. He has the worst deep ball i've seen at the college level in a long time, and he's inaccurate on short throws.
