Utility INF player that can't hit
What the hell are you talking about? He was only drafted in 2009 and has hit over .300 at every single stop in the minor leagues except in AAA in 2011 where he hit .286.

I'd bet he is taken in the top 3 rounds.

I think he could be the same type of professional player Lemahieu has become. Utility INF player that can't hit.
LeMahieu began the 2012 season at Triple-A Colorado Springs but thrived once he got called up July 17. He batted .316 with 11 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 20 RBIs in 62 games. He hit .305 with runners in scoring position and .321 with two out and runners in scoring position.

Bench Blake Dean! He sent Katz one time and he got nailed at 2nd!
There was a similar (only dumber) suggestion made about Blake Dean during one of his early season lulls.

If be continues to hit like this, can't see him going in top 3 rounds.
Even so, that'd make him a top 100 player not a top 50.
Re: Lemahieu the book on him is that he didnt have the range to play SS professionally, and defensively 3B was his best fit. However he simply did not have the power to play the position full time, which has forced him into a super utility role. If he had more pop he could be an every day player. He's a solid average hitter but his bat holds him back from being a regular every day player. I hope that makes more sense.

2 different players, same situation. We had no one to replace Watkins either. He still tried something new.
and dont say Watkins offered nothing. He, like Jones, was getting on base via the walk. And he was 17-20 on SB attempts
Jones' upside at the plate is very different than Watkins. Do you disagree?

played some baseball in your day too, brah?

I think when I say they are 2 different types of players, that I'm implying they are not the same.

...yet you used Watkins as support for why Jones should be benched.
If Mainieri thought Jones was at his ceiling right now, he'd probably consider a change. Clearly, he thinks there is a pretty good shot that he comes around based on his talent. Plus, this team offensively (unlike the Watkins years) can afford to let him get in a groove.
Watkins was bad comparison.

I think that you would make a pretty damn bad manager. He'll come along, get off his case and enjoy LSU baseball. We have a real good team regardless of players having batting slumps.

I'm asking myself the same thing. I checked this thread at lunch and was the surprised at the rate it was moving.
CLEARLY Jones's bat is struggling BIG time, but I don't think we have another player as well rounded as him minus his bat right now. I think if we benched him, we would gain a slightly better bat, but a decrease in all other things JaCoby brings to the table.

He not only wasn't swinging well, he wasn't playing very good defense either.

Honestly don't understand the jacoby jones dick riding on here

Potentially, yes. But he won't be. Unlike a guy like say, Jared Mitchell. Who struggled early in his career & actually got better. He had the numbers that in the end, represented his 5 tools. Jones doesn't. Unless he catches fire no way is he a top 50 pick.
Just an FYI. Mainieri said in his radio show tonight that JaCoby is more than likely a first round pick even with his current production but if he starts flirting with .300+ he's a top 15 overall pick. Went on to say that JaCoby is the best athlete in college baseball and could be drafted first round based on that alone. Also said JaCoby has some of the worse luck he has seen this year as he's ripping the ball right at people.
