Perkins needs to spend the entire off-season at the STAR position. End the linebacker experiment and have him play the position he’s built to excel at

You’ve heard different than what Jacoby said himself?

Yes, I have heard differently and in much more detail than is being reported here. In my opinion I don’t think he’s 100% either way.

DT rotation in 2025 will be Guillory, Suggs, Breaux, and Mickinley all with plenty of snaps from this year. Then we Re bringing in 4 guys to develop behind them.
Seeing what Peoples has done to Jones and Swinson, the elite speed and talent of Reliford and Womack, could possibly be even better after a few games of seasoning.
West Weeks is more than likely coming back and because of multiple injuries there, Atkins and Keys are getting and will get plenty of reps. And in what will be a 2024 All American Whit, as the star of the defense, and you have a loaded LB corps.
LSU's front 7 will be nasty.
My guess is next year Toviano plays Star, Gilbert and Sage Ryan return at safety (and yes that's a good thing because it will be his 2nd year at his natural position, and he is already getting better), and Jackson and Spears will be rotating in while they got snaps this year.
Woodland locks down a CB spot, Stamps plays slot corner, and 5 star freshman Pickett plays the other boundary corner. While corner will be thin on experience, it will have way more talent there.
I think LSU could finish with a top 10 defense next year.

There's no way Sage has anymore eligibility
NVM I stand corrected. Felt like he's been here a decade

Ryan is a RS junior right now I think. So he does have another year of eligibility. Burns is out of eligibility after this season though.

I think Charles Ross may have a say in the lb spot as well. Even tho he’ll only be a true freshman he’s an absolute freak show at lb

Ngl this is the one I respectfully disagree with. For one correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure jardin Gilbert is out of eligibility after this season right ? And also I think it’s time to let the young safeties take over. I respect sage and he’s played solid ball at his natural position but Spears has tremendous talent you gotta let him start next year and also let a guy like Jackson see the field in more than jus a rotation roll. The Bradford kid were brining in is also very talented wouldn’t suprise me if he pushes for day one snaps.

Ooo the woodland take is interesting. Not about him starting cause i absolutely think he will start next year he’s too talented to keep off the field but the fact you have him replacing stamps on the boundary opppsite of Pickett ( who clearly is starting day one ). I assumed woodland would be the one who plays the slot since he’s been playing a lot of nickel reps this year and is prob a better fit playing the slot than stamps since he’s more twitchy and fluid then Ashton is. I also think you should keep an eye on Kade Phillips. We also focus on Pickett being a day 1 stud but Phillips is an absolute freakshow as well and prob will end up being a 5 star cb by the all American bowl he’s rising up rankings rapidly. This will def be the most talented cb room in the bk era despite the inexperience.

Gilbert is a jr why wouldn’t he have eligibility?
Pickett is very small right now. I know he’s a 5 star but i wouldn’t just pencil him in to start right away
He may take time getting used to the physicality of the game, hopefully he’s an early enrollee so he can get started on his body in January
A lot of you had the same assumption with McKinley and it was the low ranked 3 star who came in as an early enrollee and was ready to play before him
Wouldn’t surprise me if a guy like Kade Phillips gets burn before Pickett if he’s an EE

I stand corrected he is a redshirt jr you are correct my apologies. He should be back another year then.

He def isn’t the biggest kid rn but he is 180 pd. That’s solid weight for a freshmen corner esp one with his height and length. That’s more than pj weights who has been contributing as a freshmen and also more than Nate Wiggins, who was a shutdown corner for Clemson and just got drafted in the 1sr rd. Yes he needs to get stronger but he’s too physically gifted to keep off the field day 1. Corners with his length, twitch, ball skills, and speed don’t grow on trees. Shea Dixon is an lsu reporter and he flat out said DJ Pickett is a day 1 starter at corner. I’m pretty sure he’ll be an early enrolle as well. It’s way diff with mcckinely as he was for one a summer enrollee and defensive tackle is a much harder position to start day 1 in. Skilled positions like CB or WR is much easier for a kid to walk in and start day one. The last two 5 star corners we had in the program (Derek Stingley and Eli ricks ) were day 1 starters I expect Pickett to continue that.

Stamps saw the field before Toviano, who still hasn’t found his way yet
All I’m saying is don’t be quick to make judgement off rankings.
