wildly unrealistic.

He was terrible and mostly useless this season.

Is that group really as talented as we think?
Is any position on this team overloaded with talent?

They are not coming here just to catch 1 TD a year, my friend
With NIL and the transfer portal now, you better have a QB that can spin the ball. If you expect to keep quality receivers
———————————————————————This is truth, when your third best receiver’s stat line for the year is 25 catches, 300 yards and 4 TD’s, that’s not numbers that would put BTJ in the first round of the draft, even with his skill set and size. Boutte had those numbers in 1 fricking game with that chump Max Johnson. The portal enables them to make the jump a lot easier so they can try and boost their stock with a viable passing QB.

Does Bech even play in the SECCG?

I’ll say it again.
Playing WR in the NFL is more than just “run da route, catch da ball”.
WR is the most over abundant position in college football. Good WRs are a dime a dozen.
For every WR we lose, we will pick up one just as good or better out of the portal.
Do you really think having a QB that isn’t pass heavy for a max of two years is going to keep WRs from coming to LSU for decades? Seriously? That’s absurd. Even if the entire time Kelly is here is all he ever recruits is duel threat QBs, that doesn’t mean they won’t be able to pass the ball. Plenty of DT QBs pass the ball a lot. Bama has done pretty well with them recently. No reason LSU couldn’t too.

If anybody is low on stupid, they should spend an afternoon on the Rant, they will be full to the brim before the sun sets.

I guess you have reading comprehension problems, I never said they wouldn’t have them for decades but if your passing game isn’t prolific, you will have a revolving door. If that happens, there won’t be continuity between QB and WR’s and your chances of being very good or elite are slim. It’s about maintaining a high level passing game and your WR’s won’t want to leave because they know their draft stock will flourish. There is more to playing WR than just running routes and catching the damn ball but passing is the name of the game in the NFL, so lack of blocking skills are somewhat overlooked in exchange for a guy who can consistently beat guys downfield.
Obviously right now the state of the program is a special circumstance but that doesn’t mean you stick with someone who is subpar in the passing game. The line is playing at a high level now and will only be better next year, you need a prolific passer now. You’re right, Bama has done well with DT QB’s but this board is delusional to try and categorize JD in the same level of a passer as a Bryce young or Tua. He doesn’t have those skills.

JD aint this guy. Key: pass the ball
We gotta have a guy that can pass the ball first before WR show up.

Criminally underutilized considering Daniels inability to pull the trigger on downfield routes. A possession receiver who can catch underneath and pick up a first should have been a useful player.
Did you watch the games this year? Catching anyfrickingthing wasn’t in the cards for Jack. Blame everyone else if you want to sound stupid, but he had opportunities to be relied on and just didn’t get it done this year. Hope he comes back next year to improve.

As poorly as this year went for him, I would not be surprised if he looks elsewhere. Between the injuries, poor play, and scrutiny he’s dealt with, a fresh start may be best. I hope he sticks around and works through it, but we’ll see.

To drop 18 balls a year?
Posted on 12/3/22 at 4:29 am to Geauxldrush
This means JD5 is coming back and will start next year.
We lose Howard too, IMO, but not this cycle

If Howard sticks around next year (he will), why would he transfer after that? He’ll be in line for the starting job.

Since we’re speculating about transfers, I’d say it’s because Denbrock and CBK’s systems use a very mobile QB. I think they get that with Collins. Just spit balling though.

If you produce, you play. If he wants to play, then do something when you get on the field besides dropping balls or getting penalties.
I think he can contribute and be effective, but he's got to show it. If he doesn't want to prove himself and make plays, there's not much the coaching staff can do for him.
Make your own path. If he won't or can't, it's not the coaches' fault. It's all up to him.
