Next year we have two open dates and I love that idea. I don’t know who exactly planned it that way but It’ll def work to our advantage

Mental hump. Close losses, games stolen in OT. Under Les, not show up the next week against arky. Too much pressure to win that game has lead to losses.

Let’s instead focus on who the girl is with the panties on in your avatar so I can begin the conquest of letting her sit on my face. #priorities

Not really. Start Labor Day weekend and finish Thanksgiving weekend like always. Just have 14 Saturdays instead of 13 during that time.

Alabama started it. They scheduled their bye the week before LSU in 2009. LSU began following suit in 2010.

Rather than rescheduling our bye week, LSU needs to try to move the LSU-Alabama game to much earlier in the season. First, Saban will likely not want to waste his bye that early, thus, we won't have to face the extra prepared Alabama defense anymore. Next, early in any given season is the best time to get them before whatever young position group gets experienced (this year I recall their secondary looked shaky early on). Finally, if you do lose, early season losses are easier to recover from.

Play Bama in Sept. They are usually not at the top of their game yet. It will also stop fans from worrying about this game all season.

My main problem with playing Bama after a bye week is the benefit they derive from having extra coaches ("advisors"). These guys can help create specific details of the game plan. It always seems that Bama plays significantly better after a break (this goes for bowl games too).

Idc if we play after their bye, they just shouldn't be able to always have 2-3 former head coaches on staff as advisors.

I say schedule a cupcake before Bama. Worth a try.

It would be at home. No travel involved.
Take starters out in 3rd.
Keep rhythm.

Nick Saban has been scheduling the bye before the LSU game because he knows it’s the most important game of the season for bama.

The placement of the bye has more to do with putting it in the middle of the season than putting it before LSU. It's just that LSU is the toughest game for both teams and it's still the 3rd quarter of the season. I doubt Saban or Orgeron would take the bye three weeks into the season no matter who they were playing. At that point, your players are still relatively fresh and injuries have not taken their toll.

As it is, the bye for both teams comes eight weeks into the season which is currently 15 games long counting the postseason. Taken too much before that and it's wasted -- taken too much after that, your players are so beaten down that they can't recover and it doesn't much matter, and considering that if a team makes it past the SECCG, they have three weeks to recover, it only makes sense to put it somewhere in the middle of the 15 game season.

Nice try Frankie.

I’ve heard this nonsense before.

The placement of the bye is before the LSU game is because Saban wants the bye before the LSU game.

Period.

Period.

I don't think we're losing because of the bye. But sometimes I wonder if we'd be better off if we played a game instead of the bye to keep the momentum going. For example, this year we only had one loss going into the Bama game. In 2015 we were undefeated only to lose the next two as well. Maybe we should use it after Bama to recover.

At this point it needs to be Florida. We’re not beating Bama and we have now been consistently underperforming for the Florida game.
