I like the idea that this is like the '09 team and they never actually peak, they just continue to do really well.

That being said, I'm deathly afraid of a slump.

And THAT being said, this team is really good and I'm really excited about them.

if this team is yet to peak, then the astros better look out.

This team definitely could win a series against the astros

At this point I would still take the 96,97,98 Tigers

They proved themselves, I think college baseball is down this year and we don't face Vandy

That doesn't mean we can't win the national championship

Germans, MFer.Idk why people won't admit this is the beat team they've seen. Factoring in the new crappy bats, of course

Interesting thing about this team. If a couple guys struggle, somebody else gets hot.

Tonight, Rhymes had a tough time. Ross couldn't bunt. However, Ross gets a clutch two-out, 2 RBI single. McMullen was on base all night and blasts a 3-run HR. some runners were stranded but the entire team put pressure on the shaky Arkansas defense.

The pitching and defense will be consistent. The outfielders can really track them down. Rhymes is considered a liability but he robs a HR tonight. The infield is as smooth as any out there.

The team is deep and talented. Perhaps slump proof. Beatable, but it will take a huge drop off or bad luck to win a series against them.

Will Mainieri put Eades as the game 3 starter in Supers and championship if LSU makes it that far? I don't see how this team would lose in that scenario. The only glaring weakness is an inability to bunt guys over. Maybe this will lead to less bunts and more hit and runs.

Why would wait until Game 3 to throw him?

Because it would give him a strategic advantage. It's what he did in 09 against Texas and it worked. This would obviously be contingent on Nola winning game 1.

He did it in 09 because it would have meant pitching Ranaudo on short rest.

1972 Arizona State... 64-6

but was 64-4 going into the CWS final against USC and the Trojans beat them twice

1986 Texas A&M... 58-7

but was 58-5 going into the regional final against LSU. we all know what happened there

best record ever for a CWS champion was 1958 USC at 29-3... 1975 Texas was 56-6

He did it because his Dad lost a series the same way. The way he acted in 09, I could see him taking this approach again. It's brilliant IMO. If you have 1-0 advantage and your #2 guy is head and shoulders better than their #3 guy, it's a great move.
