Not reading all this thread but as an alumnus of LSU this is what I have to say, frick old people and their bitching about students leaving early. LSU is a school that exists for the students. Personally, I think that every student should get in for free and if they reach capacity, start kicking people out of the stadium who aren't students to make room for the students. And I wouldn't give a damn if all 20,000 or whatever left before halftime in a shite game like this past week, because I know they are going to fricking show up when it matters and stand and scream the entire time against Bama while the rest of the stadium sits on their arse.

It's a university and if the current students choose not to uphold the old traditions, that's their call.
I regret that this apparently means a whole lot of students don't really care to watch much of the home football games. Wasn't always so, even in one sided games or bad weather...
The corporatization of other seating has had similar results.
Are we witnessing the death of Death Valley?

There hasn't been a competitive game in Tiger Stadium since OM 2010. That's a lot of blowouts, and when it becomes so old hat, yes people will leave early.

so none of you were students ever?

cus i stayed the whole game, and the whole fricking stadium was empty. Maybe you season ticket holders should fork over your tickets so i dont have to scalp them anymore.

Screw you and your old arse. Without my 4k per semester you'd have to watch Tulane play. I'll leave whenever I wasn't against shitty teams. Btw, we're the loudest section without question.

There are slot of upperdeck ticket holders who would love that upgrade.

You can upgrade to those seats. Current tuition and fees are $3,498 per semester for in state, $11,136 for out of state. Plus the face value of the tickets, of course.

At halftime over 50% were gone. From where I was sitting the student section and the yellow seats closest to their section are always the worst. Late 2nd quarter folks were rolling out. There are slot of upperdeck ticket holders who would love that upgrade.

Old lsu fans sure do like to whine alot.

I was a student from 02-06 and feel there has been a downturn in the student section. I mean I'm not gonna lie and say students never left early during my time because they did. Does it seem more leave early now, yes to me it seems that way but it is my opinion. What I feel is hurting the student section and their perception is that every year they get more vulgar on their cheers and such. On first down cheer it started out as "kick their arse" and progressed to add "beat the shite out of them" and finally added "bitch". They got Neck banned, the oweo cheer taken away. I'm mean when you can hear curse words on CBS clear as day it not good. I say come early, stay late, and cheer on you Tigers. You only get 7-8 games in Tiger Stadium a year, make the most of it. BTW we have reasonable student tickets compared to some of the bigger programs.

Jesus man it's fricking North Texas and Washington.

Who gives a shite. Most major (significant) college football stadiums are packed til the end of the game regardless of opponent.

You idiots are the same people that cry every time a publication comes out that doesn't have Tiger Stadium listed as the toughest place to play. Reality is... it's only tough a few halves out of the entire year.

I'm afraid you are wrong mr. texas tiger. True fans don't leave until the game is over(final horn). If they want to leave at halftime to go swill beer or smoke rope that's their business but there are many people who would give their left testicle to have those seats. I think the problem is spoil brats. They have been like that in high school for a decade now. Drivin' up and down the strip ,so called have fun. If they don't like football then stay home. I think some of them go to the games because it's fashionable.

Sorry that I don't want to watch 15+ minutes of running up the middle while we're up 40 points against a vastly inferior opponent. Big blowouts against nobodies are hard to stay interested in for a full 60 minute game. The entire damn stadium was emptying out by the middle of the 3rd quarter for both games.

The bottom line is that the student section is the loudest and best section in the entire stadium. When the WRs come out of the tunnel before the game starts, what section do they head towards while they get hyped and try to pump up the crowd? The student section. When the game is over and it's time for the team to sing the Alma Mater, what section do they go to? The student section. What section did they station the band right next to to coordinate 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down cheers, as well as things like the Chinese Bandits cheer for defensive stops? The student section.

If you think that 10,000 old alumni and sidewalk fans that will sit on their hands but stay the whole game is better for the Tiger Stadium atmosphere than 10,000 students who stand, get loud, and cheer regardless of opponent until the game gets out of hand, then you are an idiot. Maybe I should bump this thread after the Bama game when the student section is full, standing, and raucous for the whole game while you old fricks sit on your hands and try to get people kicked out of the stadium for standing up in front of you.

I am a 1984 grad and feel like the students have been getting the shaft ever since the Bob Broadhead AD days. When I graduated the student section began on the 50 yard line and we got in FREE. Now the students are tucked in the North End Zone and from what I understand have to apply for the privilege to pay for these shitty seats. If I were a student today I would be PO'ed.

The student section is still the loudest and best damn section in the stadium. They stand and cheer when all the other folks are sitting on their rears. When the TV cameras look for a rabid fan crowd shot they go to the student section.

From where I sat it looked like a much higher percentage of people from the East side had left at halftime of the UW game than from the student section. Check out a replay of the game at the 7 minute mark of the 3rd quarter and compare crowd shots of the East side with shots of the student section. Shameful for the East side and the student section was still rocking.

So in the slightly altered words of Pink Floyd:
"Hey A-Holes! Leave those kids alone!"

Yes, you pay tuition. Big fricking deal. Season ticket holders pay ticket prices and TAF fees that combined range in the thousands as well. And Alumni pay for essentially everything football related (Indoor facility, practice fields, uniforms, etc). The student athletes would play even if they took away a portion of the student tickets and opened up a new season ticket section. You're not near as important as you like to think.

That more than one person in this thread has this mindset is hard to believe.

Great Idea

Let's take the loudest section in the stadium and reduce it to 50% so we can sell tickets to other fans who prefer to sit down.

GTFO with that. Student section will be there when needed.

LSU students are the loudest and have the best spirit. They are allowed to leave when LSU is winning 30-3. People like to have fun and after the game. so many complainers on tiger rant lately about people leaving...who cares?! do you you really care because someone left at the half. Does it really matter? people who would take those tickets of these so called people would also leave at half time. Those are some long days when people are tailgating from 9am. GERMANS
