The lack of history between these two prior to the 92 expansion is one of those weird quirks in sec history... other than maybe the earthquake game, there are very few memorable moments.

Almost went to that one. Glad I canceled my trip. After the 2006 game, I was finally ready to go back over there in 2012.

Auburn was a rotational opponent for LSU before the 1992 expansion. They played in 1971 and '72, then not again until '80 and '81 and then not again until '88 and '89.

Fun fact: LSU never played against Bo Jackson or Herschel Walker. Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee and Vanderbilt were rotational opponents from at least the '70s until 1992. So we have infrequent history against three members of the Big 6 until Auburn and LSU were placed in the West.
