One of the umps remembered reading something about just a situation like this in the rule book while jacking off and thought he would try to impress his fellow umps. That pretty much sums up why we had to go through all of that.

The umpires had too long of a conference and had to cover their arse to make it appear that is was a judgement call, so as to make it non reviewable. Complete BS, and it was poetic justice for LSU to win with a walk off HR.

B.S. It was a HORRIBLE call - and if they could have reviewed it would have been the WRONG call as well. Unbelievable that any umpire would make that call to possibly change the outcome of the game. It's also interesting to note that the runner was out by 5 steps. NO reason to make that call - unless you are 100% sure. Umpires scare me w their ability to change the outcome of games. Glad we won!

That’s not what the rule says. Rule doesn’t say “catcher can’t move forward at all”
It says he can’t be on or in front of the base.
Now maybe he was in front of the base. It looks like a toes length may have been. But even so, is it completely in front?

Then you can’t read worth a crap. The rule says he has to catch the ball first without touching home plate before he can block the plate.
