Just my 2 cents as to what really bothers me about this situation, because I failed to properly articulate it this morning.

The Big Ten is moving like a conference that understands it is competing with the SEC, while the SEC is still full of schools fighting over how much power its own best programs should be allowed to have.

For years everybody in the SEC got credit for what Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Auburn actually accomplished. Now NIL, direct payments, and private money are separating the schools that can truly compete at the top from the schools that mainly benefit from being associated with them.

So instead of letting LSU, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and the other major brands push every legal competitive advantage they can find, the SEC keeps finding ways to restrict its own members in the name of fairness and perception.

That is what this LSU situation exposed. This was never LSU against the whole conference, there were coaches all over the league looking at the same opportunity, but the administrative side decided it was more important to stop it than to let SEC teams take advantage of it.

The Big Ten is trying to beat the SEC. The SEC is trying to make sure nobody inside the SEC gets too far ahead of everybody else.

That is a really bad place to be when you have already gone three years without winning a national championship.

We see this playing out in bowl games, scheduling, etc etc. Sankey could have found sooo much middle ground here, but he chose not to...

Meanwhile, the B1G made their rules narrow enough for UCLA to continue to do what they needed to do.

And also look at the network contracts... the b1g has deals with many networks while the SEC is essentially owned by ESPN and ABC...

conference pride is a thing of the past...the other SEC schools are our main competition for players, exposure, etc...

Exactly chicken the only people that care about that Confrence pride crap is the Big 10. I get it they were down for so long and the SEC narrative was pushed down their throats but SEC pride died a long time ago. Could care less about the rest of the SEC, I want LSU to win.

This is half my entire point.

We cant sit here and say it doesnt matter conveniently when the B1G is embarrassing us. If we were winning titles, that would be different... as it was different.
