Do you honestly not recall damn near every LSU fan laughing at O, Col. Reb, the unintelligible auto ads and ripping off his shirt deal?

Look in the mirror.

You think espn is the one making him a caricature? He and les are just that. That's who we hired man.

Les wasn't a caricature until he picked up a blade of grass before raping Saban on a 4th down fake to beat his arse in 2010.

That was lasting story from that win and coverage of his in the media was never the same after.

Fwiw, I think you are right. When the Gump Saban ring- kissers like Rece Davis intentionally target LSU coaches for ridicule it hurts the perception of LSU and undermines Orgeron . Portraying LSU as the place for bumbling idiots is not a coincidence, it's a strategy.

Absolutely no doubt about it.

He needs to be able to take a little friendly jabbing. Which is how I took it.

I never thought so many fans would be up in arms over this.

You think ESPN is "trying" to help LSU recruit?

Only way to stop that is to win. Beat Alabama, win the SEC. If he wins a National Championship at LSU, it will all come to a stop.

Right now no one respects him as a coach, not even a lot of the LSU fan base because of his time at Ole Miss.

To change that he has to win, that's all!

You're looking at this all wrong. ESPN is getting Coach O's name out there just like they did with Les. Les was able to recruit all over the country because ESPN made him a star.

Bingo. All that grass eating riverboat gambler shite made CLM relevant on a national level, which was huge for LSU. Scott Van Pelt constantly pumped up LSU, not necessarily in on field praise, but just in terms of entertainment and gameday culture.

Any kind of clean humor regarding your head coach is a good thing. High school, middle school and even young kids will watch that segment and find it interesting. That will come back in our favor down the road.

It's done in fun. Coach O doesn't give a frick.
He has thick skin (unlike some of the sensitive bitches in our fan base)

The only thing that we should be caring about is the football teams record and character. If ESPN wants to do a whole segment impersonating him the so be it, id prefer if the did it while he is holding the championship trophy.

Like in 2011 when Miles beat Saban on the road and got a rematch for his troubles?

I regret that I only have one upvote to give this post.

Since the day the guy who wouldn't be the next coach at Alabama became the next coach at Alabama ESPN has been slobbering all over him. At the same time they picked up the "Miles is winning with Saban's players" nonsense and started painting him as more and more of a bafoon.

When Miles beat Saban in the game of the Century, they couldn't accept it and hence the "do over".

The ESPN Jihad pretty much changed the fate of two programs. Do they "hate LSU" per se? No, but the Alabama "brand name" carries more weight nationally. So they continued to pump this narrative that Saban was a genius and Les was this goofy old guy who just got lucky.
It's the story that Alabama, Saban, Finebaum, etc have all spread
