Let’s be honest, without a few questionable calls, they could have easily lost to LA Tech

I like this team better with "our back against the wall" mentality. I feel like we are a very emotional team and at Tiger Stadium - has the make up of a big win.

Dude! Did you see how this team performed against an average Florida team? This is why Desmond Howard and others have not bought into the hype of this LSU team and thought #5 was unjustified. It was, and the way our fans talked about some the analysts that know more about football than they will ever know is ridiculous.

you're right. it's a game. we have to enjoy it. we can't win every game. it was a good game. what's disappointing is that we should have won that game.

but we got outplayed and outcoached. next week is new.

Who exactly is this directed at? This keeps getting posted, but for the life of me I haven't seen anyone here change their opinions about the program either for or against after this one game.

This is easily the stupidest thing I’ve read in years.

Jesus dude. For one, this is college football. 1 loss is HUGE. Every conference game is a playoff game.

But other things happened this weekend that has many questioning our season thus far. Miami barely beat a bad FSU team and Auburn got killed by a mediocre MSU team. The two "top 10" wins we've had this year don't look like much atm.

So yeah, some of us are concerned. Is the season mathematically over? No. But not understanding why some of us are concerned about the status of current affairs is kinda strange.

Having hope is fine, but being blind about things is not.

This could also apply to a lot of Les Miles' games in his "lucky years".

That was an excellent reply abellsujr. A conference loss in college football is huge and like a playoff game. With the state of our Oline this year, we will not be sniffing anything close to playoffs and will be lucky to still be in the top 25 at the end of year.

In addition to the general tendency to get too high after a win and too low after a loss, this team is one that is really hard to figure because they're right on the cusp of being very good but still have a number of issues. Here's what I took away from the UF game:

1. We have a very good defense but we're just not the dominant D we had hoped for. Injuries have played a part in this and almost certainly played a part Saturday without Phillips.

2. The offense is a work in a progress and, as Ensminger said in the summer, we simply must be able to pass to beat really good teams. I personally think E flubbed the playcalling this game by not passing enough on 1st down.

3. We just played poorly against UF. Turnovers, bad tackling, dropped passes, missed assignments on the OL, and penalties.

With all of that, though, the Tigers were down only 1 with plenty of time. Only a good team could be in that position after playing such a sloppy game.

Anyone who was objective saw the flaws with this team. The offense is still way below average and predictable. The defense has been weak agaisnt the run at times and doesn’t get a good pass rush. 9-3 was the was the best this team was going to be.

Usually agree with you. But let’s play this what if game. One call from losing to Tech. If official calls the roughness call when their best linebacker number 11 punched Moore in the head we win. 15 year penalty drive continues and puts us in good shape for field goal. Just saying what if. I don’t believe in what ifs though. We are 5-1 and hopefully 6-1after Saturday

More than anything else, I'm disappointed that the loss prevents a top 5 matchup in Tiger Stadium from occurring for the first time since 2012.

“5-0”

Beibg 5-0 is not something that has been unusual for the LSU football program of the last 15 years.

(Florida) was a winnable game very important to our hopes for a highly successful season. LSU fans being emotional about that loss is pretty understanding.

If this team can only get motivated when it feels disrespected or has its back against the wall, then we have a problem.
