Very touching article. Tomorrow will be 11 years since my dad died, (also the day after Father's Day). During his last days we watched LSU in the CWS and though they didn't win the National Championship, I was so grateful we had the opportunity to watch those games together.

Thank You ,Carl for the touching article. I am truly lucky to still have my Dad to call and to see(we live 10 minutes away). Many of my fondest memories are of my Dad ,brother and I watching the Tigers (baseball, football, anything LSU)together. I coached my son in baseball, basketball and football and I hope the memories he will have of those times and our love of LSU will be as special as the ones I have with my father.

Thank you so very much Carl. I lost my father when I was 13 and until today , reading your article, had not really thought about my last game of catch with him. Thanks for the rememberance.

Carl,
To someone like me who's breaking into this industry, I'd like you to know that you have inspired me to be the best writer I can be. You have an absolute gift to hit people at their very core with words, which is rare and awesome. This is a great piece, for fathers and sons alike. It makes me realize how blessed I am to have a Father who is still on this Earth, and have those memories of games of catch, even if I was a terrible baseball player.
So, kudos to you, Carl. Continue to do what you do best, writing. And I'll continue reading.
God bless you, brother!

Carl,
Thanks so much for the article. I am lucky enough to see my Dad later today since he happens to be passing through town on the way to Baton Rouge. I am going to make sure I hug him and tell him what a great father he has always been. Something I don't do enough.

Think I'll go call my Dad--kinda like the courtroom scene in Big Daddy! Folks in tears everywhere, all on the phone with Dad...

I lost my father 15 years ago and this day still makes me a little cranky...especially when people complain about little things their fathers do to irk them. A lot of people take for granted the presence of their fathers and don't realize how much some of us miss out.
Great read bud.

Good read. As a someone who lost his father before the age of 3, I have had the good fortune to be a father to two daughters. This is certainly something I cherish each and every day and look forward to the arrival of our son later this summer. Happy Father's day and thank you for this article.
