I want a combination of a motivator coach like Dale Brown and a coaching coach like Rick Pitino.

If I were to give Aleva advice (Jesus Christ)it would be to hire a sports company to do a national search for a new BB coach. I want a coach who can teach tenacious defense. Sub freely to keep everyone fresh and keep the intensity on defense up. Defense on the fricking perimeter. Most decent coaches can run plays but lots of points can come off turnovers.

What a dumb example. No I would rather a good coach. And there are a lot more outside of the state than here.

If you are looking for a Louisiana or LSU guy you are limiting yourself to a bunch of shitty coaches.

Trent came to LSU after being the COY in two different conferences and taking to two different schools on deep tournament runs. On paper it was a good hire. Unfortunately he was a West Coast guy who just didn't fit in the recruiting landscape down here. He had ZERO ties to LSU or Louisiana, and it didn't work out. His lack of LA connections probably hurt him, because he proved he could get results when he had the talent (he steamrolled through the SEC in '08-09)

I don't mind hiring a coach with "Louisiana ties" if he his the right guy. LSU shouldn't limit itself one way or the other.

I think Brady would have also won the SEC with that team, not to mention the fact that Anthony Randolph might have stayed for one more year if Brady and Butch were still around. Unlike Ben Simmons, I actually think he felt some connection to LSU, but when his head coach and the guy that recruited him were let go, his choice was simple.

We'd seriously be much better off by hiring the best high school bball coach in Louisiana.

John Brady had a losing season with that talent, the same talent that Trent Johnson coached to an SEC title.

Pitino would love to come back to the SEC. Make him an offer he can't refuse.

I just want a good coach. I don't care if he has connections to LSU or not.

I know that a guy like Kermit Davis is out there, but if we decided to look outside first before going to him, I'd at least understand.

I really like Kermit and without question he'd be an upgrade from CJJ. Just wish we could have gotten him when he was younger.

I'd prefer a young hungery energetic coach with some personality and charisma as well as ability to coach. That used to not be a priority for me but the last 3 coaches were very limited in that and it hasn't helped as the excitement and enthusiasm has drained from the program.

I was never in favor of the CJJ hire but it really surprised me how bland and void of personality he seem to be. Whether it's purposeful or not, that's how he appears and all to often it's how his teams seem to play.

Best Coach for the job. I don't think it matters where's from and who he's coached.

Coach Prohm with Iowa State is who I'd go after. He has ties to LA and has been an excellent coach at Murray State and Iowa State.
