His .56 winning % isn't deserving of the job

Let's compare McDonnell's resume to Bakich. Who is more deserving of the job?

I don’t mind him getting a call. It’s an interview and maybe done as a favor to someone. That being said, he’s not the pick.

It’s the big 10. Bakich would be a pitiful hire.

And I'm not saying Bakich isn't a good coach. But it would be sad if LSU couldn't do better.

TBH he’s got a better resume than Lemonis did when he was hired from Indiana a few years ago.

Why are you worried about how much it will cost?
You feel like you’re going to have to personally write a check to get him?

Why are you asking him that question? Why do some people always act so obtuse about this subject?

If something has to belong to you in order for you to care about it, then why do you call yourself a fan? You don't run the university, you don't coach the team, and you don't play for the team. So why do you care if they win or lose?

Has the point sunk in, yet? People want LSU to get the best guy, but they know that money isn't limitless. So he's asking the question of whether or not Vitello is worth the cost it would take. Personally, I can't answer the question, because I don't know what it would take. But I think the guy is probably worth outbidding whatever Tennessee is willing to pay him, because I don't know where they're going to find the extra money in their budget to pay a baseball coach what LSU can. But, I don't know what sort of boosters they have who might offer him the moon. If it had come down to a bidding war with A&M, I'd say look elsewhere. But that's not going to be an issue now.

Ultimately, it comes down to whether or not he wants to leave, or build a legacy where he is. At LSU, the standard is already set, and it's win now or bust. That sort of pressure is not for everyone.

Meh. I don’t even see a single conference championship. The BIG isn’t all that great. Not really an impressive resume at all. People keep saying “it’s Michigan.” Okay? It’s still the BIG and they are still one of the more premier schools in that conference. Would be nice to see a little more consistency of above average success.

It you think someone is the best pay what it takes.
The money is there. Be cheap. Be inferior.
