Yes but can LSU maintain with Orgeron? Last leaves me questioning that. And as one poster just stated Texas has as much potential and resources as the Gumps
Would you rather O or Herman?

Is this really good for Lsu?
Seems lsu will basically be in the early 90s big 8 and not in the sec?
My prediction is this- the NCAA is about to die, and we're going to see the major conferences in an all-out war to take over the top tier of college football.
The Big 12 is also dead now. The Pac 12 is irrelevant. The ACC has lots of teams, but anyone not named Clemson is a weakling (Fla State has potential). The Big 10 is the only real rival, but desperately need to add Clemson and Notre Dame to match what the SEC did.
I see Clemson going SEC if it came down to that, with Fla State and Notre Dame following. If/when that happens, look for Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan to jump ship to the SEC megaconference- they want to play with the big boys.
This becomes the new "Division 1" or whatever you want to call it, the elite tier of CFB.

Austin is Mecca for 18 year Olds. UT can buy Bama 20 times over.

U are missing the point, and I’m not a O hater at all but does he have the brains to stay on top of those aholes. With NIL now in play Texas will the be throwing money far and wide to win championships. And our fricked state politics will worry about optics if the athleteic department is taking too in much cash to compete

It’s bad for everyone, cfb has been on the moral decline since the tv deals of the 80s

Louisiana produces an insane amount of talent and is only getting better if we continue to win at a high rate we will continue to recruit the kids in LA to stay home. Texas has to fight with AtM and Oklahoma now
Except for linemen. As long as we can establish and maintain a pipeline for elite linemen out of state, we will be good.

I think you are correct. This merger can only hurt LSU on several fronts, but mainly recruiting, especially with the new NIL situation. There is just more money in Texas to lure La players if they start winning anything.
I don't like this move at all.

Being in the mini-nfl conference, with all the tv money seems pretty good.

You can’t sign or talk NIL deals until your on campus. But your right I guess, if kids from other schools start making big bucks it’ll carry over... one thing though, in the State of Texas they can’t use school LoGos, colors, or “on Campus” institutions to promote their brand...... At LSU you can.

Other than the extra $10 million a year in additional SEC payout, not sure I see a lot of benefit to LSU.

I’m with you on this. Finally an alpha speaks the truth!
This whole thread reeks of weakness from a handful of our insecure fanbase on the what if’s and unknowns. I’m going to miss playing Alabama, Auburn, and Florida every year. However, I don't give a shite who is on that schedule moving forward since change is coming just beat whoever the hell we play and everything else takes care of itself. Recruiting, money….. all the traditional football factories in the SEC right along with OU and Texas have plenty of money to go around along with fertile recruiting grounds. Using the logic about money Texas should win the NC every few years because lord knows that school has some cash…… but so do many other schools. Go look at the Forbes list of the most profitable college football teams and the bulk of the top 15 are in the SEC, Texas, OU, Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. All teams have about 25 guys they can sign in a class. Find 25 dogs that can get it done on the field and stop all the crying. God we have a portion of this fanbase that’s just so insecure it’s embarrassing.

but it could hurt in recruiting
If it hurts anyone in recruiting significantly, it’ll be A&M. We don’t recruit Texas the way Miles did anymore and we’ll still get our elite handful who want to leave the state, but I don’t see how A&M continues pulling elite Texas recruits considering those guys are going there because A. they want to stay in Texas, and B. because they want to play in the SEC.
We still have our Texas niche when UT joins the SEC, they’ll lose theirs.

Actually since I'm an old school LSU fan, this alignment looks pretty natural. I remember far enough back in the 1950s/ early '60s when LSU didn't play Bama except on occasion, and loaded up the schedule with SWC teams, including A&M (every year), Arkansas (a lot, but more in the 1940s) and Texas (a few times). The latter two in notable Cotton Bowl games in the 1960s.

There are over 29 million people living in Texas. I’m sure there is plenty of talent to go around. I’m thinking along the lines that a lot of SEC teams will be able to recruit Texas better than they already do while your Baylor, TCU, and Oklahoma States’ of the world will take a back seat. I’ve always noticed a lot of the better schools from all over the country seem to have some Texas kids on the field. Some kids just prefer to go out of state for their college experience. Long as A&M has a good coach there they will be fine. You can only sign about 25 players a year unlike the old days where someone like UT might sign 50.

Look, Texas and OU have always gotten the majority of their kids from TX. And always have top 10 classes..... what’s gonna change? They gonna pull a kid from Aggie that wants to play in the SEC, that’s all. LSU, Ohio St, and Bama will still slide in and get the few we want.
Aggie thought getting Jimbo would open the floodgates to Louisiana.,.... Name me ONE kid that committed to Aggie over LSU from Louisiana that has been a difference maker?

I don’t disagree with a thing you are saying? Well I’m not so sure about the floodgates into Louisiana though. I’m sure they would like to poach as many top tier Louisiana kids as possible but that’s just recruiting it’s a war. To me Sumlin did a better job of pulling Louisiana players or at least giving instate players something to think about. I don’t recall Jimbo pulling Louisiana players while at FSU.

We probably won’t be able to recruit out of Texas as effectively as we have been, but as long as we can keep a hold on recruits in Louisiana, we should be fine. We’re very fortunate to have a state with so much talent, that we don’t need to go out of state so much.
How often does a Will Campbell come along in Louisiana? (Maybe once every 10 years or so)
You aint touching an SEC Championship with only LA OL's.....

He didn’t, but he did win a couple Honey Fried Chicken battles..... But the Aggies thought he’d dominate La...... they thought for sure they had Marshall wrapped up....... Sumlin got Speedy Noil....what a difference maker that turned out to be....
Jimbo is 2-8 vs Top 10 Teams........And doesn’t have a win over Bama like Sumlin did.
They are delusional.... and we are adding their delusional Big Brothers to the mix......
