I know this isn't going to be a popular thing to say around here but I'm pretty sure most of you don't understand what holding is. You can be behind a guy or on the side of him with a hand on their chest still provided that you were keeping it inside of the shoulders and not grabbing and pulling anything. There is no holding in those pictures. I repeat no holding. You guys freak out every single game and keep yelling about holding calls and for the most part they aren't actually there

He literally has one hand on the front of him pulling down at the collar and his second hand is horse collaring from the back

You just have to realize that the game is played now less on the field and in the court of opinion and judgement, and can be controlled and manipulated to their discretion.

The entire validity of what you are witnessing is in question, so fully investing in following it is at your own peril.

Glad someone else understands this. If you look at organizations such as the NFL you will discover that they are "entertainment" corporations, not legitimate sports leagues. This is highly problematic imho.

How can you possibly tell that from that image? All I see is one hand on his chest and to be honest with you it looks like a completely open flat Palm. You're just adding in information that isn't there case-in-point point the left hand which we can't even see

No way you could possibly prove that from looking at that image. You're literally just adding information to suit your point of view

Watch this in real time THEN look at the pictures as back up. It’s blatant.

Yeah, that and the low hit call were the only two I had big issues with during the game. That one was extremely obvious and UF would have had to attempt a FG had it been called.

Whatever maybe I'm overreacting but it is become a pet peeve of mine about how so many fans of football don't actually understand what holding entails and just call it in every single play. LSU is constantly being held on every play.

Arms are extended, and holding a player back so he cannot get past him.

Why do you think he's turned sideways and his knees are buckling?

Here's where we prove you don't know wtf you're talking about.

quote:

ARTICLE 3. Holding and Use of Hands or Arms: Offense

Use of hands

A teammate of a ball carrier or a forward passer legally may block with his shoulders, his hands, the outer surface of his arms or any other part of his body under the following provisions.

The hand(s) shall be:

In advance of the elbow.

Inside the frame of the opponent’s body (Exception: When the opponent turns his back to the blocker). (A.R. 9-3-3:VI and VII)

At or below the shoulder(s) of the blocker and the opponent (Exception: When the opponent squats, ducks or submarines).

Apart and never in a locked position.

The hand(s) shall be open with the palm(s) facing the frame of the opponent or closed or cupped with the palms not facing the opponent. (A.R. 9-3-3:I-IV, VI-VIII)

Holding

The hand(s) and arm(s) shall not be used to grasp, pull, hook, clamp or encircle in any way that illegally impedes or illegally obstructs an opponent.

This is holding.
