Is this all the SEC wants?

“We have a new showdown. We have the SEC presidents and chancellors scheduled to meet on Thursday, and in that meeting they will decide, if gets to that point, if they don’t see contrition from LSU, if they don’t see a more, how do I want to say this, if their fidelity to not playing pros, which has been the core of this issue, is not made more clear, there will be a vote among SEC presidents and chancellors about the possible expelling of LSU from the Southeastern Conference,” Thamel said.
If this is all they want, then just say we won’t play the players. I think LSU might’ve miscalculated this entire thing and made the assumption that the SEC will be toothless in the same way that the NCAA is. It really does feel like they’re asking for a pretty small concession, so just give it to them. We were incredible on Saturday night and don’t need two additional depth pieces. Being removed from the SEC would be suicide for the athletic department and terrible for the local economy. I have to believe there are some adults in the room here.

Stop being a bitch. This isn’t about the players. If this was about the players this all would have went away when they didn’t get added to our roster.

I thought that as well, but I bet LSU hasn’t agreed that they would not roster them in the future. If it’s that simple to make this go away, then do it. And honestly, if we can’t do something that simple, then we really do sort of deserve what happens.

The SEC in and effort to break away from the NCAA is trying to make an example of one of their biggest and most important members.
It’s not about the players. It’s about demonstrating to the other teams in the conference that the SEC can do what they choose, when they choose to in pursuit of upholding the bylaws they made up on the spot. Because if they can do it to us then they can do it to some little retarded school like ole Miss.
Me personally, I’m not a fan of being made an example of on the whims of some pretentious dickhead in Hoover Alabama. So frick him. Never apologize.

So you dont believe in principle? Is that it. You sound like a solid person. Lsu better not back down, let this play out, if it goes south (it wont) lsu will own the sec in a court case

I think some of y’all need to grow up and consider what expulsion from the SEC would actually look like for LSU and Louisiana. I don’t think this is merely a bluff. They’re going to go into this meeting asking for something in return to not get voted out. If it’s as simple as saying, we won’t roster these players, and we pinky swear to straighten up and fly right from here on out then we should probably do it.

They CANNOT tell member institutions who to hire and who to fire.
Also, the SEC has been named in a judgment in a district court in Louisiana. All of this could be proven to be retaliation in a court of law.

The players are eligible. What if SEC said we couldn’t play black players? Should we just comply?

I think it’s more than the two football guys. You have schools griping about how Wade is trying to rebuild his roster with a bunch of Euro guys and a G league guy. To try and make amends you would probably have to make a statement and then release Luis and all the Euro guys and sacrifice this basketball season. I know Euro guys have been around forever but I thinks it’s the fact he tried to build a third or more of roster with them and Luis ruffled feathers right or not. That got your basketball schools in the mix against us as they would feel threatened if we had all those guys. In reality the SEC either needs to break away completely from the NCAA or burn to the ground. Let’s face it there is t much order in the conference. You got Bama bring back a basketball kid 2-3 years removed and played some due to court order. Then you got Chambliss ineligible according to NCAA but court order says he can so he is. Then we get court orders and NCAA says they are good due to order but now SEC says nope. It’s like a bipolar standard of either we fall under NCAA or SEC is the supreme authority. Be consistent.

I don’t know how old you are, but I’m old enough that I’ve fought quite a few battles in my life on principle alone, and I can tell you they don’t always turn out too well. Some battles aren’t worth fighting. These are two backup players. Move on, which is what we should’ve done two weeks ago.
