Exactly S, I'm not a fire the coach guy but it's hard at this point to argue that standing pat will reap dividends in the future.
But as you say alas, we all know the reality/politics/timing dictate standing pat is what we'll do.
So those of us who love LSU hoops are left to live a frustrating existence, hoping for the best but realizing the futility.

Success depends on the willingness of a school to do what's necessary to achieve success. While most programs only excel in 1 or 2 sports, LSU is constantly competitive in almost all the major sports. Football, Baseball, Softball, Gymnastics, and golf. Our men's and women's basketball teams have had success in the past, but never consistently. As soon as LSU and Alleva get serious about making the necessary hires in these two sports, they will continue to struggle. It starts with coaching. If LSU can hire a good coach, it will resurrect the basketball program. Until then, sit back and hope that a team can come together despite the coaching and make a run.

The team had flaws and had people playing in positions they should have not and could not do effectively- due to not having the right size , quickness, or shooting ability.TQ is a slight SF playing PG TQ had no mid-range game, and could not create anything - and no PG quickness( he was a 3,but didn't shoot well enough to play the 3). Offensive load fell on Ben, but he's a semipassive guy who needs 3 good consistent outside shooters and a 3 that has to be a all around player with size, to help on defense and the offensive boards.
But it is all CJJ had- a misfit patched up team. With no bench no shot blocking big etc. And next year probably no real 3 again, no shot blocker(s),no bench, no real PG- unless the Freshman is a really good. It's LSU basketball-not Kentucky, but I'll be rooting

Nope, because next year he will have far less talent ...and LOGIC would dictate our team gets hammered, so the AD is just giving him a stay of execution.

Whose fault is that?

Exactly, the excuses still ring hollow IMHO for the underachievement this year. I'm sure I could pick apart the rosters of several teams this year that will make the dance warts and all...more warts than us all things considered.

He's not that good of a recruiter

Haven't you been listening to the radio? This team isn't that talented.

I didn't see much of the games. You guys are pretty adamant about Jones not being a good coach, it's probably some truth to that. I am wondering did he position AB on the side(wing) of the court so that he could drive and use his left shoulder to protect the ball and finish with his right hand. And have Ben on the other(wing) side so he could drive and protect with his right shoulder and finish with his left hand?

Quote Where is Quarterman going?
Hopefully to Europe because he's not going to the NBA. He will once again jump first then pass and let it get picked. Sorry but if people are saying how Ben will have to adjust in the pros the T won't make any team.

You do know Quarterman is a junior, right?

No!!it will be the same song and dance next year!!but LSU loves mediocrity with their coaches so he will prolly get a 5 year extension with a 15 million buyout!

Yes, cause F King said football will be cancelled, so no way we can fire anyone.

Dan Patrick just threw JJ under the bus. Said he watched the game Saturday. Said we have talent but are poorly coached.

It should be pretty obvious by now that had Alleva loved basketball so much, he would have stayed at Duke. His emphasis is not basketball . . . period.
The "glory days" of LSU basketball are but a distant memory and [like most schools with competitive basketball teams] getting to the final four a couple of times is the greatest accomplishment that can be attained.
With basketball being really no different than in football, there are but about 20 teams year in and year out that have the potential to achieve greatness. We have that opportunity in two major sports where the majority of division one schools have that opportunity in zero.

I think he'll be fired if we make some calls and have a big name lined up. if not we extend the search and let him get fired after another NIT appearance next season (if that)
That movie played out already last November.

To a strip joint and then back to Baton Rouge. Honestly, Simmons should come back for another year as well...if all you can be is a Third Team All American, it means that you ain't all that.

Yeah he will "only" be the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft.
