re: Is there an undisclosed back story to the Patrick Surtain flip?

I agree with you on that without question. It is really shitty the way the surtains shoved it up Raymond's arse though. We we were only working with a few spots left and I believe that had something to do with why we didn't offer smith. We would have had surtain Jr and Joseph and we're holding out for possibly Goodrich instead of offering Eddie smith. Either way, I agree that we should have offered him anyway, but we were being strung along by surtain and we're being told lies. He switched without any warning.
You dumbasses that honestly believe surtain made his decision the night before signing day bc "bama wins championships", like it was some sort of last second epiphany that he finally realized and had never thought of before, are a bunch of ducks, period. Not only did he and his dad make the decision on the Bama ov, they lied to LSU and told us nothing had changed, which is why we felt so confident. They pulled a low down scheme orchestrated by saban to hurt LSU and prevent us from going after Eddie smith bc saban wanted him too. It's so obvious what happened that you have to be an absolute naive fool to believe otherwise. Screw saban, bama, and the surtains. Low down pieces of shite.

And this is what I do not understand. If Smith is good enough for Bama, he should have been offered and signed by LSU way before it ever came to this, ESPECIALLY with CB arguably being the biggest need of this clas
Why ? Joseph was committed and every indication was Surtain would be a Tiger for two years or longer. They were also recruiting Goodrich, Maybe they believed Goodrich was better than Eddie Smith. Adarius Washington was also in the mix.
Everything changed very late Tuesday night for some reason. There are factors pointing to the kid being pressured to make a decision he was not in favor of. Yes, its his choice and he could have still signed with LSU, but impressionable kids can be swayed sometimes.

YES the father claims and he and his son love LSU - you don't do this to a school you love! This last minute back out makes no sense!

Dude take a breather. He's a kid for Christ sake. Your taking this shite way too serious.

Yep. Surtain Sr was guaranteed a spot on the bama staff by saban if his son signed with them. He was told to keep it on the down-low and to keep the narrative that LSU was the favorite to hurt our efforts in signing another prospect. It's amazing how some people think this was simply a last second decision by surtain Jr to choose bama over LSU without any under the table dealings kept secret from our staff. Lol.

So you go from speculation to now it's guaranteed?? Give it a rest bra. Surtain is gone and Saban will continue to do what he does and that is leave LSU fans like yourself lathering Preparation H in your arse. This is comical

No I'm not. This is a recruiting topic. I don't wish Ill will on the kid or his family by any means. He wouldn't make or break our football team either way, hes one player.

This is pitiful. Bama wanted to hire Surtain Sr for an on-field position... there was nothing wrong about this. In the end, Surtain was the one that walked away from the job.
Surtain Sr has nothing to hide... there's no reason he'd walk away from a job at a University that doesn't conflict with his son playing there, only to accept it later.

Surtain loves LSU, but he also realizes that he is talented enough to make it to the league no matter what. The kid will be a first rounder. With that being said, he picked the college that will offer him the better chance at winning a NC.

Nothing tricky here, The family chose Coach Saban over Coach O. Bottom line. Would you trust O or Saban with your child.

I agree with you. If Georgia wouldn’t have shite the bed against Alabama in the 2nd half of the championship game, I think Surtain would be a Tiger. Alabama winning the title this year put them over the top for him.

He did screw LSU out of some quality guys that we could have had. Many 18 year old people are fickle.
He really did embarrass Raymond and 'His School".
Alabama has 5 new CB's. How many will stay/play ?
Much of the blame for at least not LSU know earlier falls on his dad.

Yeah, I was hoping for facts, but got speculation instead. Oh, well I knew better.

He wants to play for a program that wins championships. You heard him, didn’t you?
Posted on 2/8/18 at 3:48 pm to tigersbb
I haven't really followed recruiting that closely this year, for a lot of reasons, but mostly because I know which direction the program is heading.
My main question about Surtain....If he was committed to LSU for over 2 years why did he not sign early? And when he didn't sign early, why didn't O have a backup plan?

Why ?
Because even if Surtain signs (which he didn't), we're STILL probably anywhere from 2-4 scholarship CBs short of ideal depth at that position. Losing Surtain doesn't hurt if you signed 2-3 others...but losing him and signing 0 others is a killer.

Choosing Sabah over O??
Something must be going on behind the scenes
