Is there a rule preventing LSU from scheduling a week zero game before going to Clemson?

Giving one of the in-state schools a payday while knocking the rust off before the Clemson game seems like a win/win scenario.
Especially since Klubnik is returning for Clemson.

Sorry if I missed it, but can you provide a reference? Teams regularly schedule week zero games, so I don’t see the conflict.

Or we could stop this stupid bullshite of playing good to decent teams in the first week while 95% of the other programs hoping for the playoffs are scheduling cupcake rent-a-wins and starting off guaranteed 1-0. It obviously has NEVER mattered who you beat in the first couple of weeks when it gets down to it in November. But it absolutely DOES matter if you lose.

Yes, for the 8000th time. Go read this article.

The conflict is that it doesn't involve Hawai'i on the schedule.

I agree, but LSU isn’t cancelling the Clemson series, even though I wish they would. Adding a week zero game is the only realistic possibility if it’s legal.

basically teams that play at Hawaii are allowed to play an extra 13th game. They can schedule that extra game in week 0 against anyone.
So when FSU did it, they found a team that was playing in Hawaii and then paid them to play at FSU in week 0.

You know, like Clemson has to do, since they don't have a Week 0 game either.

Thanks. So LSU could play a Fresno state, LA Tech or similar team outside the US prior to week 1 according to that article. That would be worthwhile

Or can stop the whining and bitching and grow some fricking balls. If LSU is national championship worthy shouldn’t matter who they play first game.
Warm up game, frick that. LSU dominates whoever they play. That use to be that attitude. Now the fans got that Brian Kelly softness.

Can only play 12 so you’d have to drop someone.

It’s called the not be a beta and be an alpha rule….

Yeah, it's called a scrimmage. When we are a top team, our 1 offense is going against a top defense.
Problem lately is defense has sucked. So offense isn't prepared properly

Easy, reschedule the game against Southeastern from the week before Ole Miss and play it in Ireland week zero. Gives you a bye the week before going to Ole Miss and a tune up game before Clemson. Kills 2 birds with one stone without changing what teams are on the schedule.

Yeah this board has no memory. I know it’s possible because I saw teams do it.

While I don’t necessarily disagree, this isn’t a talking point for LSU fans if LSU actually decided to win one of these games over the past 5 years

I’m not aware of a rule but according to Ott and Hanny Verge Ausbury who is charge of scheduling refuses to consider it because “we’re LSU” or something like that
