Everything written and talked about outside of this board says that they will try to enforce it this year. It’s only people in here that claim “they can’t do it this year cuz it’s too late.” Please show me a source that shows me I’m wrong, I’d actually love that ti be the case.
Except its not

the guidance states that reinstatement will be evaluated on a “case-by-case” basis considering how long the player was receiving a salary above their expenses, the quality of the league they played in and other factors. Dozens, if not hundreds, of prospective men’s basketball players alone could require such a review. And for players who play on professional teams, years of eligibility could be docked from their ledger if they’re allowed to play at all.
So you think the NCAA has the intention and ability to fight these brand new guidelines that could affect potentially hundreds of players and impacting dozens of teams this year?

It’s still very early in the eligibility review process for the vast majority of the top international talent that has signed with college programs in recent weeks, so the practical impact of these changes is still unclear. But a return to a more stringent accounting of players’ pre-college earnings and subsequent ineligibility could wreak havoc on rosters throughout the sport, including plenty of the biggest programs in college basketball.
So no, I think common sense indicates this is them setting up for next year. Zero chance WW is building a roster like this if there is a realistic shot we can't even field a team.
If most teams have these guys under NIL contracts, prior to the rule being voted on and adopted in a few months, they would be met with a ton of Breach of Contract suits. Those have been successful in the past against the NCAA

This is our disconnect. You think the NCAA uses common sense. I do not.

Which doesnt change the fact that they will have a ton of lawsuits filed and various high profile attorneys and agents have said as much.
This isnt just about the pro foreigners, or restarting the clock. Even the 5 in 5 rule that could go into place would make a ton of returning seniors ineligible for something that court cases have already ruled against the NCAA on.
Sure maybe they are dumb enough to vote on it, put it in place, and not grandfather currently rostered players. But that wont change the fact that they will have hundreds of lawsuits on their hands with virtually no chance at winning.
I'd love to hear how they deem one foreign pro eligible and one not due to their subjective view of that leagues "status" and pay. No chance something like that holds up in court.

Amen. Does anyone realistically think however this shakes out we will be less competitive than last year. I think not, the bar is pretty low. Damn give WW a little time, Rome was not built in a day, if so, we would have their contractor.
