Brennan’s arm is 10x better though.

Johnson isn’t starting the season. Not saying he won’t at any point, but he isn’t the opening day guy.

It’s not all about arm strength -it’s more about who can play every facet of the offense

Johnson, on the other hand, was far better than Brennan in third and fourth down situations and inside the redzone.

Inside the 20 yd line last year Myles had a 169.73 qbr. Max had a 133.36 qbr.

On 3rd down Myles had a 88.78 qbr. Max had a 87.99 qbr.

Myles is the better passer in those situations.

Max had 27 yards rushing on 3rd down and 6 in the redzone.

If people like Max, fine. The narrative of he's just more clutch is fantasy.

You guys who always stick up for Myles crack me up. He is exactly why we went 1-2 versus SEC bottom feeders. If he was even decent on 3rd down and in the red zone the defense would have never even been on the field. The best defense is a great offense.

You’re fricking retarded. Did he give up 40+ points in those games? 1100 yards and 11 tds through three games should be good enough to be 3-0. The defense was the problem you idiot.

Its not as simple as defense or offense.

They were both to blame.

You can't just quote the stats. He had 3 elite receivers.

He should've put up those numbers with those weapons.

People like Max because he's won more for them lately. As far as I'm concerned Myles never lost a game he started. The losses were on the worst LSU defense in history.

Recency bias is hilarious. Myles was right there with Trask in TD passes when he got hurt, and had no run game and some shitty 3rd down and red zone play calling. He had the impossible task of following possibly the greatest college QB of all time.

I dont either has proven to be clutch. More to do with lack of opportunity for Max.

I do think Myles has proven to lack that X factor in 2 huge losses last year, however.

When was Myles playing defense in those 2 losses?

The defense forces 6 turnovers in that game.

Myles was 5-27 on 3rd down combined.

He literally ended the game on the goaline vs Missouri without scoring to win the game.

If you can’t win a shoot out vs those teams with extra possessions, that is a fail

Fwiw this video was posted on 247 and 3 insiders including Embody confirmed that they are hearing the same thing. As of right now Max is the starter

He got them to the 1 and TDP couldn't get it in 2 tries in a row. Throwing that close to the goal line is no easy task. Again, playcalling was shite.

When you give up over 600 yards, almost a moot point.

Lol not even close

Not when you are 6:2 or 6:3 in turnover margin, whatever it was. One was even a TD, if I recall

And not when you are 5-27 on 3rd down & you quite literally cannot move the chains or convert a 1st

Wow? 10x better. How do you know that? Uhm, you don't. I bet you were saying the same thing when Joe Burrow was here also.

Brennan is a decent passer when he has a clean pocket with no pressure. However, that is not often the case. Plus, when Brennan leaves the pocket, he rarely completes a pass.

Not only that, but Brennan last season was atrocious on third and fourth down situations and he was also horrible in the redzone.

Meanwhile, Johnson is as good of a passer as Brennan with a clean pocket. However Johnson is much better at evading defenders whether inside the pocket or outside the pocket. Plus unlike Brennan, Johnson completes passes both inside and outside the pocket. As Johnson is far better at extending plays for positive yards relative to Brennan.

The truth, whether you agree or not, is Johnson's toolbox is far superior to Brennan's toolbox.

Furthermore, coaches who make starting decisions based on who will transfer, as opposed to who is the best player, or inevitable short timers.

The only real edge I see Brennan having is that he throws a pretty long ball and can throw it accurately. No doubt, Brennan has a really good arm and does very well when given time in the pocket.

Johnson needs to improve his long ball and the accuracy. Otherwise, Johnson made some really nice passes last year for a true freshman, he managed the offense very well, he only had one INT and he was good at escaping the pocket and moving the chains with his feet.

Man how quick this board forgets Myles Brennan was on a record pace before he got hurt. His progression from game 1 to game 2 was immense once he had those first game jitters out of his system. Covid had everything fricked up and he was going into the season as Burrow's heir that was a huge amount of pressure.

Max's composure was amazing but we only saw a small sampling on what he could do. There's no telling if he can get rattled in a game or not yet. The team was playing better for him than they were Brennan earlier in the season. The lack of practices really hurt the team. It started to come together towards the end of the year.

I say you give Brennan his shot and put a short leash on him.
