how did you come out on top of that one? Ott was incredible the ENTIRE freshman season. The guy made the best teams/hitters look like fools with the game on the line. He was incredible

Wait, so you're right on Ott, I'll grant you that.

But when you say "too", you're insinuating that you were correct about Miles??? That's pretty funny.

Not even that. He won the NC with Smoke's talent, and Smoke's talent came from recruiting based LSU's reputation.

WHy?

2/4 Omaha with 1 of those years being a takeover for Smoke. Last year was underachiveing and then he wins SEC tourney...gets shipped to UCLA.

We're going to be okay.

Good post Pisces.

HE IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS REMOVED FROM WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Jesus Christ man.....

I have no facts to back this up but I'd be willing to bet that nearly any D1 baseball program would LOVE to have PM as their coach.

Do we have a reverse bandwagon gif somewhere? You can already hear the footsteps heading for the bandwagon exit.

Mainieri is a great coach and we are very lucky to have him. He took a team in shambles to a world series on the back of a 26 game winning streak and then went back to Omaha and won the deal the next year.

LSU has talent, but a majority of it is still young. Our pitching staff is starting two freshmen on the weekends right now and if they just a little more run production behind them they would be considered amongst the best in the conference, if not nation.

Everything will be alright...

TRUE

Sanchez and Grewe though.. I could care less about. They are both very bad.

The number of saves he received is 95% responsible to the offense and more importantly Micah Gibbs handling of him. His stuff is not impressive. I can stand up there and rake all day on 88mph cheese.

You are a moron. Do you even know what a save is? You don't get a save for coming in up 4 or losing the lead and having the offense bring it back in the bottom.

2 omaha trips in 4 years, and 3 straight conference tournament ships.

Please name all the big contributors to that 2009 national title team that smoke recruited, and let's not count louis coleman because his improvement came under mainieri...... Also Blake dean was recruited as a pitcher, mainieri decided to use him as a hitter, so go on now

That is a ludicrous question. The team is very young. They have failed to make the pitches with 2 strikes and/or deliver a hit with RISP. Confidence is down a little and maybe the focus has waivered but blaming it on PM is misguided.

Nola making errors is not going to continue. Watkins's struggles are very surprising (defense). They just need a few plays to turn the mentality around and when they do, watch out.

every fricking year some fans don't understand that baseball is a game of ups and downs.. and that even the best players and coaches have slumps.

it's like they never played baseball before or they played rec ball and were used to 65mph cheesepuffs delivered right into their bread box or something.

Please name a hitter that improved because of Sanchez or a pitcher that was developed because of Grewe.

My problem isnt CPM its the fact that CPM has possibly the worst Asst Coaches in the entire SEC. Sure they can recruit well but we have a hitting coach as our pitching coach and a GA that followed CPM here as our hitting coach. LSU can do better. I have been saying for the last 3 years that the only way our pitching staff improves is through new talent.

ochinko
jared mitchell
gibbs
leon landry

as for pitching, louis coleman's development may be the sole reason we have a national title

im not a big fan of the assistants, never have been. But i think collectively, with PM at the helm, these things have come together nicely
