Is LSU’s 2023 football defense or this year’s baseball team more disappointing?

I had such high hopes in baseball this year, but that 2023 defense was bad. I’m torn.

I dont think theyre in the same ballpark at all. An average defense and LSU wins every game.

Thank you.

Football and baseball are fundamentally different sports. Apples and oranges.

Example: OM barely made the 64 team field in '22. And got hot and won it all. Do any sober fans think the 64th ranked football team would plow through the competition and claim natty?

Well yeah, they're completely different. For one thing, Ole Miss wasn't remotely #64, as they were a 3 seed from a big conference. They got an at-large bid, something none of the 4 seeds got.

They also got injured players back for the stretch. They started out #1, so people did expect something of them in the preseason.

I think the problem with that comparison is that LSU isn't missing anyone to injury right now, like they did (and like Wake Forest is). We're just not performing as expected. Most thought Kling would step up, Hurd and Guidry would pitch solidly, etc.

OM was literally the 64th team picked in '22. No SEC team is gonna be a 4th seed even if the last team in.

They were 32-21 at the end of the regular season, 14-16 in the SEC, and eliminated from the SECt in their first game. Living on the edge.

FTR, we are not injury free. Frey can't throw which limits him to DH only which in turn has ripple effects. And Shores and Noot are still out.

If for slightly different reasons, we're in the same boat as OM was - finding your best lineup and roles when it matters most.

If the baseball team was like the defense they’d be 0-9 and run ruled every sec game.
