We should all be livid if an 11-1 LSU team, with their only loss being at bama in what I hope is a more competitive game in 2019, doesn't make the playoffs.

Depends on what the rest of the country does.
They won't get in if you have undefeated Alabama, Clemson, undefeated Big 12 champ, undefeated Big 10 champ, undefeated Notre Dame. It's not likely you have that many undefeated teams but if it happens then yes a 1 loss team like LSU could be left out.

I agree...still going to be pissed if we get snubbed when bama would not have gotten snubbed in the same scenario.

Look at our dreaded 2011-2012 scenario. Bama finishes the regular season 3rd in the SEC, 2nd in the SECW. They then sit home and watch us all beat the frick out of each other in all the conference CG's. Then they get into the NCG to face a team that had just beaten them in bama 3 months earlier, over 4 other conference champions.

I don't think defending anything bama or any special treatment they get is prudent. We should all be very livid if we don't get the same treatment in the future.

Unfortunately, I feel that as long as LSU has Steve Ensminger as offensive coordinator or anybody like him, the offense is going to continue to be mediocre at best. We have seen nothing to say otherwise and the stats back this up.

I want my future down voters of this post to come out and actually make some commentary and try to back up their position with substance.

Are they a contender to win the west? In other words, can they rise above Bama, Auburn, and A&M?

If the answer is yes then yes is the answer to the OP's question.

As good as the roster looks for the coming season, I think everything hinges on findin a LT that can anchor the line. Hard to gameplay around a weakness at that position.

I say YES.

LSU will start out pre-season Top 10.

The SEC is still the toughest conference in the country, and even though next year's schedule isn't as tough as this year's, it's still an SEC Schedule.

Having said that, we have all of the necessary ingredients coming back to have a championship contender next year.

Now, if we get a rash of injuries in weeks 1 and 2, then maybe things change.

Otherwise, we should be in the mix.

Texas looks to be improved and tough. Florida is still Florida and Auburn always has the potential to get it going and make a run as well.

But again, YES, we have 16 returning starters and depth, and a SENIOR experienced QB, that can make his share of plays.

We have WAY more coming back than both Texas and UF...especially TX. And we get UF at home in a revenge game.

It should be a disappointment to us all if lose more than 1 regular season game.

Why? You'll still choose to be dumb after.

List ALL years in which Ensminger was OC at LSU running his own plays. So that we will know how much data you've used to make your decision that he obviously sucks.

During that ONE SEASON (spoiler sorry) what would you rate the personnel he was in charge of? You know...sophomore line, freshmen receivers, transfer QB got here yesterday, RB...Brossette.

Do tell us, in all your infinite wisdom, why Steve Ensminger, who has been the OC of his own LSU offense for one season with a group I'd rate at 6.5, is never going to amount to shite.

My heart says yes but my brain says probably not.

I need to see the o-line and play calling get fixed before I truly believe we’re ready for the playoff

In October and November LSU finished 4-3. Who would see that performance as CFP contender?

Way too early. But I would worry about getting out of third place in the West and scoring a point on Bama first before thinking about a playoff appearance.

I thought this thread was asking if we are ready to be a playoff contender. Only in the world of millennial snowflakes would we assume Ensminger is a playoff caliber OC unless it can be proven otherwise. In the real world it's the other way around. The burden of proof is on you.

I don't know if we're there yet, but with some more powerful recruiting classes we'll definitely be knocking on the door real soon. Would be nice if it were next season, but I'm not convinced we have all the parts yet, especially in the trenches on both sides of the ball!

I’d say about 2-3. Considering we haven’t had en elite QB in a while, it would take some building on to establish a line of good QBs

I thought I was responding to a post about Steve Ensminger within the thread. Make sense?

Got it.

Only a colossal dumbass would come out and say that any OC without playoff experience is unlikely to take a team there.

Beating Alabama is obv a plus but not end world if we don’t.

But I’d rather us not lose to fla and eatme.
Hard to beat same team twice in one year.
Ask Texas.
Ask les miles

How can we not be?
We had one bad loss and that was to Bama---we won the TAMU game everywhere but the scoreboard and played poorly and still almost got Florida.
We improved over the year and showed our depth in the Bowl game.
I think we go to the playoffs and Burrow ends up in the running for the Heisman.
