Your best teams are always the “villains”. I will be more than happy to accept and embrace that. I want people to hate our damn guts as we pound the crap out of them.

Bama has far too much pride to hire LSU's coach away directly because it doesn't fit their narrative and view of themselves.
The first part of your post is spot on. Was the second part sarcasm?

If Lane wins a Natty in BR and Bama is down, you can bet your arse they'd come after him ... "restoring order." But under those circumstances, I wouldn't see him going.

If you're referring to me saying they'll hire BK, yes - sarcasm.

I think Bama would have to be in a pretty tough spot to hire away a sitting, successful head coach from LSU. I think they'd at least make a call, but I just can't see it from a program that prides itself on itself. (if that makes sense?) That said, I think they'd hire away a sitting Auburn coach just to screw Auburn...

In love, when a married man runs off with a prettier, spirited woman, it's the man's fault. He own it and He's the "villain" re the family. Loyalty aside, Saban bailed on LSU to move up, and I'll bet he has regrets that he fell for the Pro 'eye candy', not realizing that paid athletes are more independent than formerly, unpaid but spirited college kids. He came back to College ball and landed at Bama and fulfilled his destiny. Regardless, the folk will hate LSU because Kiffin will likely win big time, given the logistical advantages that Tigerdom has. From its Fanbase/pure spirit, to the Stadium, financial resources and homegrown talent, Lane would have regretted not taking the crown and running with it for the rest of his life. Saban told him as much. Ed O bore witness.

It will be interesting to see how far Ole Miss goes in the playoffs. Of course they now have an excuse for losing. Will also be noteworthy to see how many OM players follow their business and prosperity instincts and choose to move up as well when the 'pretty woman' comes calling.
