Most schools are not in it to make a profit
Anything they make is put back into the student athlete experience for all athletes from facilities to maintenance of those facilities to anything the athlete needs.
The problem is no one thought that model would be disrupted in the manner it is being disrupted now.

In the last year that numbers are available, which sports made money?

It’s crazy that Paul makes that much. Not a great ROI

LSU needs to stop playing Other. It costs too much money and the stands are always empty.

LSU athletics turns a profit and I’m glad Woody stopped just cutting the university a check at end of fiscal year.

If we wanted to eliminate any sports as a result of this pandemic I would get rid of men/women cross country and men/women swimming and diving.
Those sports could be club sports at best.
Outside of Olympics who cares about swimming or diving.
The natatorium is an eyesore and needs to be torn down.

I'm excited about our new soccer coach but it's time for volleyball to step it up.

College athletics are a business....and businesses are "in it" to make money.

You conveniently omitted salaries. I wonder why?
Please go back to your GA position in the athletic department and stay off of the Rant.

LSU will be in the red after this season. How much depends on if FB can salvage enough of a season to collect TV revenue. Everything depends on TV revenue (season games, SEC championship, bowl games, etc).

Even if we play this year, LSU Athletics is in trouble. We are losing about $70MM in lost revenue with an empty Tiger Stadium. They MAY make it up if the SEC is able to use other conference cancelling to make more TV revenue. But this is terrible if we play and catastrophic if we don't.

It's alright. LSU can rely on donations from the BLM crowd they tried to appease.

Since the advent of the SEC Network and the B1G network, this mumber has increased. about 10 years ago, it was LSU and Nebraska. Now I think I heard it was around 20 now.

$4.5M for Women's Basketball!!! Jeezus

You could fold the sport, give each season ticket holder $100K and still come out ahead

It really is surprising that they kept Fargas. I honestly don’t know much about the dynamics of women’s basketball, but it’s just crazy how things have changed with State and South Carolina being in forefront of the conference.

A solid women's team could draw just as much as men's hoops and gymnastics
Mulkey would have built a sustainable program that would be thriving right now

Absolutely. They would at least be breaking even.
