No. He made some mistakes in hiring and how aggressive to be in the portal last year no doubt, but the program is way better than it was under O at the end.

No, Kelly is not that bad. It would be stupid to fire him. If we do that a bunch of players leave and we start all over from scratch. The question is can Kelly build a NC contender, and the jury is still out on that. However, one can break id down a bit.

Can he build a NC caliber offense? Yes. He did that last year.

Can he build a NC caliber defense? We don't know, but with the staff we have now I think the odds are good.

Can he do both at the same time? Who knows.

It's just frustrating at the moment because Kelly's mistake in hiring House put us two years behind schedule (and we have a terribly impatient fan base).

Harbaugh went 8-4 year three at Michigan after consecutive 10 win seasons. Does he suck too? BK is not a bad coach. shite needs to improve but this isn’t 3-4 years ago when you could recruit and hold talent. We lack depth in a lot of places. Feel free to throw in a dollar or two if you wanna bitch. We need more talent

I would argue this era of the portal and NIL is rapidly changing and different from what Harbaugh had to deal with the majority of his tenure at Michigan. Maybe Kelly can adapt and thrive at a high level? We don’t know that yet.

The delusion in these attempts to salvage Kelly is insane

Yes, he is the most winningest active coach in college football. He’s that bad.

To coach into your 80’s at Cinn and ND and rack up wins against sunbelt teams and service academies does not make you a great coach. “Winningest” is a bullshite soundbite given to people like Lebron James to prop and pose his career as if it’s “great”

Honestly, I think he didn’t get great players from the fill in spots in portal. His fault. Also, he had to know Nussmeier’s extreme shortcomings and should have gotten a QB if nothing else to back up Injured QB. I don’t like the look on the sideline of him cursing the players in front of the world to see. Fine in the locker room. I think his OC for offense and Defense have all been terrible. Loosing Underwood is the nail in the coffin. The former players Leonard Fournette and Honey Badger were encouraging him to please come to LSU. Maybe some other arrangements could have been made, move his mom and siblings to Baton Rouge (paid for) to provide family, emotional security and a bit more money. That kid is going to be incredible. Now who is he Targeting for our QB for 2025 and can he save his class. Can LSU show cause to reduce his buy out. These contracts need to be better to protect the universities with player now making multi millions. How can this get any worse for college football - ?? NIL and buying out 10 year multimillion dollar contracts because a coach failed to do his job. I

He is good enough to keep the wheels from falling off, that’s about it

I wish Woody hadn’t done 10 years, which was retarded, but I do think he played the odds and it was better to get a guy with a high floor and low ceiling.

And believe me, BK’s floor could be a lot lower.

I don’t like him, I wish we had someone else, but he was looked at as a guaranteed “keep LSU decent” hire and we couldn’t afford a question mark after Orgeron.

Depends If you are good with a ceiling of 9 wins and a loss total of 3-4 games each year, then he's your guy. that is all LSU will get from this guy. he is not an elite head coach.

he’s literally exceeded that “ceiling” 2/3 years he’s been here.

Do you really believe this is the most talented team he will ever field?

Why does this fanbase always think there are all these great players in the portal?

He literally got a quarterback in the portal.

I couldn’t get through 10 posts on the 1st page after the OP before I had to bail. I would just like for those of you who not only think Kelly is really bad or that he sucks, please just tell me all the coaches you think are good. Besides Kirby Smart, who’s on your top 10 list? There are 130 (ish) FBS teams. Surely it will be super easy to find 9 more after Kirby that are good. Not even looking for great. Will take good.

Exactly.

These people are retarded

For the first time ever, LSU athletics will generate over $200m in Revenue this year. Football will generate $105m and produce $50m profit to basically pay for all the other expenses in the Athletic program. The athletic department will spend close to the $200m in expenses. Brian Kelly and Woody aren’t going anywhere as long as the Program continues to produce those results.

He’s 27-11 at LSU (60%).. not great.. his career record is really good.. but.. this is a new game.. can he be the same coach under the new rules…all coaches are trying to figure this stuff out.. just look at the parity since the changes..if next year is bad as this one.. he’s toast.. my opinion, he’s not a good culture fit..
