The usual argument is that he won a national championship. So did Mainieri. So have Mike Bianco and Chris Lemonis. If they end up on the road for a regional again, there need to be some hard questions asked.

I’m sure you can pick up the difference in the situations. Although Bianco has turned it around. Apples to orange comparisons.

When has a National Championship coach at LSU done anything after winning the National Championship?
Les Miles is the only one that has come close to winning a 2nd. I guess Jay Clark will have a say in that next week.
Even the great Saban had an average season after winning the NC. I guess they just don't have the hunger anymore.
I used to joke that the best thing LSU can do after a coach wins a NC is to fire them and get a "hungry" coach.
Of course, you have coaches like Torina who thinks winning a regional is the same as winning a National Championship.

Not really. In eight full seasons Johnson's teams have only hosted twice, and twice they didn't even make a regional.

Yes he is, but this team won't win it all. There's to many question marks at this point. Right now we're the 6th best team in the SEC. Or 7th.

Actually, if not for a one point loss to Auburn, LSU would've been back in the SECCG in 2004.

And if it wouldn't have been for FOUR luck out wins, they would have been 6 - 6. (Remember the opener against Oregon State?)
Two can play that game.
The bottom line is LSU coaches have a history of putting the program in cruise control after winning a NC.

They're not going to host a Super now. That died this weekend. They'll be lucky to not be traveling to a regional.
Are you serious, or trolling, or joking?

If I say no will you quit watching, quit caring, and stop posting?
If i say No too will you quit dick riding reaves and his 28 HRs in Juco? Listen here rookie just because Reaves hits against North Alabama and North Dakota St doesn't mean he will hit SEC pitching. Next year against non conference opponents don't dick ride a player who hits against sub par pitching. Maybe you will learn

I am a little concerned we’re going to look back and say “who WOULDN’T have won a title with Skenes, Crews, White, Morgan, Floyd etc?”

Maineri was a coach for 39 seasons. 8 isn’t quite at 39. Try again.

Skip won a natty in a season with 20 losses.....
Posted on 4/13/25 at 7:57 pm to TigerProphet
When we sweep he’s Skip Bertman when we get swept he’s Smoke Laval…

Things don’t look good right now. But I’m keeping my powder dry until later in the season. We’ve had these slow starts before and ended up doing well. I’m not ready to pass judgment.

Please stop this nonsense

If he misses the supers this year its 3 out of 4 years not being in the last 16. That is a problem. The floor for LSU is the super regionals, if you miss that target 75% of the time you will fell some heat. The natty buys him some breathing room but not being in the supers 3/4 years is not meeting expectations.

Morons blame the national championship coach.
We're falling into a repeat of last's season's mediocrity........
