Say what? Please god tell me this isn't a reference to Auburn. We had numerous comebacks just last year that rank way ahead of this one. 2007 Florida anyone?
Do you realize that this statement totally makes any other statement you ever make completely useless?
I suppose you don' t remember our D allowing Troy to conduct passing drills for 2.5 quarters w/ a 3rd string qb and running up a huge lead.
Embecile!

Every one of those who make the a-hole criticism of JL are nothing but worms who never had and never could or will have anyting resembling any kind of athletic experience. They are weasels who can do nothing but bitch about something they have no hope of ever understanding much less experiencing.
Finally, some sanity.

It's NOT the mid-30's 9-5'ers doing the JL bashing, it's the high school/college student TD geek squad. They see in Jarrett Lee what they WANT to be (football player at LSU) and just can't stand it. Jealousy pure and simple.
Athletic Careers. What Athletic Careers? 99% of em probably never even played high school football or have ever had a jock strap wrapped around their F.Jewels except for maybe in P.E. class. They're just frustrated and jealous little virgins who are close to the same age as JL and he reminds them of what they aspire to, but can't be. ........
More sanity, and that's definitely another profile of the typical basher.

Of course Lee is good enough to play in the SEC. Last year was his first year and was put under huge pressure. If her were playing at MSU he'd be a 4 year starter. Would he be that at Florida, no.

Not that any of you idiots care about the facts, but here goes anyway.
Prior to Ole Miss where Lee was injured, he was ranked 66th out of 119 Div 1-a (fbs) starting qb's. There were 4 freshman starters ranked higher than him. That's right only 4. BTW, none of those 4 played in a BCS conference.
Feel free to search the archives on this. It's been posted multiple times. The stats were pulled from ESPN's site. Can't guarantee you that the older links still work.

i think some people, due to the SEC's dominance in bowl games, and the talk of it being clearly the best conference have elevated it in their minds to damn near NFL status.
In any given year there might be 2 NFL type prospects playing the QB position in the SEC, and one will probably be a soph/freshman.
Good enough to play in the SEC =/= JRussell, or Matt Stafford.
This is a great point. People forget just how shitty a lot of(if not most) SEC QBs really are. And JL is obviously good enough to play in the SEC because--shite--he already has.

JLee has clearly shown an ability to win games in the SEC, and be a pretty solid QB, with a ceiling that is still higher than what we got out of our two NC winning QBs IMO.
I agree with this, but I'm not sure he'll get a shot. Jefferson could be that good. But Lee will most certainly play the next few years.

I think JL got put in a bad situation considering he was not even supposed to be the starting QB this year. He needed the time in mop up like every other LSU QB that has come through. JJ had to sit most of the season learning the position before he was thrust into the position.
I think JL has the arm, just needs time under center to make him an NFL QB. I feel comfortable with him if he has to step up. I blame Perriloux for the disfunction at the position because he was the heir to the job, and he put himself before the team. He put the younger guys in a position to mature faster than the team had planned.

I'm pretty sure that Lee set the record for most passing yards by a freshman in the sec.

Does anyone remember J. Russell's first start as a Tiger in SEC action? He was at the swamp and made a couple of mistakes that has us down by 14 points early in the first quarter. He was young, and that happens.
JL was a freshman under huge pressure, playing for a defending national champion. I thought he did fine, considering half of those pick 6 returns were because of poor tackling on the run backs.
I don't know what his future brings, but if Les puts him in the game, he's got my support. Heck, I trust Les to do the right thing, so I'll support whomever my coach goes with.
That being said, I sure am excited about Russell Sheppard...

Given time, he is good enough to start at LSU.
Bingo. I believe he would be a "good" SEC QB if he had 2+ yrs in the system with one year as the primary back-up prior to being given the starting job.
I believe he was good enough to play last year. Just not "LSU quality" last year based on the success of our program over the last few years.

I think so, but only time will tell. I remember Rohan Davey's first game against Auburn. It wasn't so great, but he did pretty well for himself later.

+1
let Pick-6 Lee just come into his own during the season as Les the Hat plays him, he's bound to play better. I paraphrase, that on another thread he shouldn't play for LSU everagain but that was too strong after Season 2008 (his frosh year) and I recant. I was mad at his propensity to live up to his nickname Let him sub for JJ, both are sophomores, a second season quarterbacking the Tigers is bound to step up his game, his poise, and accuracy

It's threads like these that make me beat my children. Please- for the kids- stop starting conversations like these.
If you really have to ask aloud whether Lee is good enough to be in the SEC at all, you've pretty much outed yourself as 1) gay and 2) a ridiculously uninformed football fan.
I guess I'll get back to spanking my kids now...

weird that you would call someone gay, considering the avatar you view every time you post.
