I know we are in the middle of an exciting football season but I figured I would try and change the talk a little bit from all the bitching that is going on.

So let's talk some baseball. What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

Listening to Mainieri last night shows that he is still very upset with what happened last year.

But he also stated that they didn't close out a few games last year, which in the end, cost them a spot in the SEC tourney.

Realistic expectation or just expectation? Serious question.

I love baseball but I admittedly don't follow recruiting too much. What did LSU do in the offseason to make them better this upcoming season?

I'm looking forward to seeing what McCune and Gausman look like with a year under their belts.

Who is going to be the closer this year?

I think we are going to be improved and make a run in the post season. Pitching will certainly be a strength.

I loved Matty Ott, and very thankful he helped us win the title in 09, but he was one of the main reasons we didn't make the tourney last year, I'm looking forward to better closing pitching

We should be in the top 3 in the SEC pitching wise this year. Hopefully guys like Hanover and Austin Nola can have good years at the plate. If they do, we'll be fine offensively.

Pitching will have to carry us, but Gausman and McCune should dominate. I expect Eades and Rumbelow to contribute. Aaron Nola throws strikes!

I agree. I really am looking forward to seeing these guys take to the bump again this year and I fully expect big things.

If Gausman and McCune can take the next step and Eades can pitch like he did on the Cape ... .

We should be improved in the bullpen as well. Just have to kinda wait and see what our bats are capable of doing, though. Obviously, it doesn't look like we have much power in the lineup.

Did anyone catch Paul's interview on the cst replay last night? Paul said we hit more homeruns than half the teams in Omaha but what we lacked was pitching. He seems to think we have elite college world series pitching and just enough hitting to win a bunch of games. He seemed pretty excited.

never too early... I can't wait !

Hopefully someone like Katz can step up and fill at least part of Mikie's shoes. Would be nice to see a few step up to make the lineup a little more productive.

He's right, our pitching was the main reason we didn't end up in the postseason. They weren't good, mostly the bullpen.
